If I have learned one thing Sid, then it is to expect as less as possible and not raise your expectations.
Yeah that always works, I try to keep my expectations low and be very happy when they turn out great but.... IT'S WITCHER 3!
In this case, I just can't control myself. But what I would say it, you should expect something at E3 it's quite the major event.

They already said in the shareholders event that they next big thing will be shown at E3, plus we know from last year they've got a demo planned E3 is the perfect place for that...

More importantly, let us assume CDPR will be there at E3. Will they be in some major conference? What could it be?

Good, though I fully expect them to show extensive gameplay in the last E3 before the game's planned release date.

I try to be but I am majorly de-hyped. Every time I hope to see something of substance I am greeted with a silence or in the best case, 40 seconds of footage or a piece of artwork. Being E3 I should expect something big, it is just that I would not be suprised at all if CD Projekt shows of 50 second of footage without any context and then goes silent again for months on end.

So if CDPR show the demo at E3, will you hop like a rabbit?

My personal problem if you can call it like that, is that they never are clear, they never come and say "guys, there's absolutely no way we will show anything new in-game or information previously unknown, everything witcher 3 related is on hold til E3...". But at the same time they never safely confirm if we will get something for sure before it, so they leave us half-way through.

Rumors appear everywhere, the marketing campaign starts in "this" date, or the pre-orders are in x months, we will show the small new project next week but nothing happens, etc. Even after the delay they said, " We’ll reveal more details about it sooner than you think" talking of pre-order info.

I've learned to not wait anything substantial of the game when there is nothing supposed to be close to appear, but being told that there is something just around the corner every time doesn't help me.

If they show 50 seconds of footage then I will keep my mouth shut, since nothing good will come out of it.
If a miracle happens and we actually get extensive gameplay then I will indeed hop like a rabbit.

These things can be tested.

Here we have two AAA RPGs in he making coming out 4 months apart from each other. Their marketing strategies have been different. We can look at a number of ratios, making sure said ratios are relative, to even out the obvious disproportion in marketing budgets: sales per dollar invested in PR, market share growth per dollar invested in PR, etc. After the DA2's debacle and TW2's critical acclaim, perhaps it in fact CDPRojekt which has a headstart. Let's see how the two games fare in the long run.

I would like to ask the minds behind this strategy whom does it help? Media? Really? Who here will be bothering with these sites in the near future? TW3? Really? Who is getting his curiosity spiked by this kind of interviews?

As I wrote some time back - they're maintaining the hype. Or let's put it this way - if you roam these forums, you will notice there's not so many ppl here, posting. We are the fans that want to discuss things. Then there are probably some observers, reading, not posting (myself not so long ago). But most of the target audience doesn't really care. They maybe plan buying the game, but they don't scour for news like we do. It's these occasional interviews that keep them updated, or at least remind them, that there is this cool game coming.

The discussion can continue in the appropriate thread. Meanwhile, those gamers you speak of have been hearing the exact same thing for almost a year now. In this day and age, I don't that's the best way to capture and maintain their interest.

Ooooooooooooooooh I'm gonna be REALLY pissed if CDPR does not give us a good gameplay video or at least a long trailer at E3.
I'm sick and tired of hearing promises from CDPR team and hearing about the game from privileged pricks who don't even give a shit about the game but get to get inside the closed to public presentations at E3, while we hardcore fans who follow the game every day get shit at the end. We, the fans, don't even get a confirmation from CDPR wether we are going to see something or not. Plus I hope they release the system requirements for PC at E3, the game should be at a stage where the foundation of the graphics engine is complete by that time. The remaining 8 months after E3 should be spent on extensive QA testing, polishing and debugging of the game since the scope of the game is very large.

I once said the same thing (be it in dozens of posts) about the game and got a very clear reaction, CD Projekt does not owe you anything and expecting anything from them is acting entitled. I understand your frustration and it is true that the fans have not been treated very well at all but the devs have some plan they are sticking to for dear life.

If you want my advice, look at some other games and try to lower your expectations, otherwise you get annoyed and that can lead to less than ideal situations.

When asked if it would be 60fps on PC, Török said: "It depends on your PC. It can be anything on PC."

:wat: ...Is this guy for real? How can a journalist of "Europe's Largest Video Game Magazine" be so uninformed about the very basics of how PC gaming works?

I'm speechless for yet another fine display of lack of professionalism in the sector.

I'm not sure why CDPR is so secretive with Witcher 3. They were really open about the Witcher 2, and even released Beta footage and developer diaries.
In any case CDPR and Naughty Dog are the only companies that have earned my trust, and I only pre-order games developed by these two companies. I'm still going to pre-order the Witcher 3 even without seeing any footage.
