Ooooooooooooooooh I'm gonna be REALLY pissed if CDPR does not give us a good gameplay video or at least a long trailer at E3.
I'm sick and tired of hearing promises from CDPR team and hearing about the game from privileged pricks who don't even give a shit about the game but get to get inside the closed to public presentations at E3, while we hardcore fans who follow the game every day get shit at the end. We, the fans, don't even get a confirmation from CDPR wether we are going to see something or not. Plus I hope they release the system requirements for PC at E3, the game should be at a stage where the foundation of the graphics engine is complete by that time. The remaining 8 months after E3 should be spent on extensive QA testing, polishing and debugging of the game since the scope of the game is very large.
Hey son anger is bad for your health, love that heart.
Don't attack your best friend, It's all you got.

ps. CDPR Team don't owe us shit, they are making the game they want to play and in the end they share it with us for a price:)

meanwhile, a pretty unremarkable piece of "news" like this got 200 comments and counting

Preorder bonuses for The Witcher 3 at GOG will be "f***ing amazing"
CD Projekt Red CEO Marcin Iwinski adds that, "It will be excellent and that's all I can right now."

Chance to win brand new gaming PC/laptop? or 7 days holiday for two on caribbean islands? Or something equally useful :) this is something I would be happy spending my money on :)

You get a chance to win a trip to CDPRED's headquarters and try cyberpunk2077 before anyone else

My feelings right now are basically the same that i had back when i made a thread about my hype fizzling out. honestly im more hyped for that other game that was recently announced for october. in part because atleast they are giving us something each month. ofcourse that doesnt matter as much because W3 has been delayed so it wont have to compete with DA. but im hoping that we will have a pretty massive torrent of news and updates by august.

Here is a new that CRP has put on maximum secret
Witcher 3 is the best FUCKING GAME since ever, so STFU and let us work without pressure or spoiling the WHOLE GAME every week

Oh wow bro they really said that? Did they say not to criticize or tell them our honest concerns? and simply want us to act like silly, squealing, mindless fangirls?
Rather immature of them...

Not sure which is worse: spreading FUD, or taking it seriously.

If you want to claim that anybody told the fans anything remotely like "STFU", back it up with a legitimate source, or withdraw it.

Or answering sarcasm with more sarcasm.

Sadly CD Projekt seems to never be able to actually say anything of note these days, just more promises.
It makes me worry a bit because it is beginning to remind me of Gothic 3. That game also had very little coverage and the devs promised a lot while the end product was less than stellar to say the least.

Well, to be fair it was a stream about GOG and not CDP RED or Witcher. This was just an offhand remark. It was actually quite a fun stream explaining the workings of GOG and questions related to their working, games catalogue and future. I'm rather surprised gamespot made 'news' of this... 'videogame journalism'.

Gives hope that such people exist who don't see every person as a wallet.

EDIT: Oh and I thought I 'heard' @senteria being mentioned in one question.

Is that not even sadder when you think about it? The first mention of pre-orders appearing again and it is an offhand remark in a stream about something that has little to do with the actual game? The stream for information about GOG was indeed great though, some interesting tidbits there.

Well, I don't know to be honest it's a non-issue for me.
They said preorders will be opened/announced in the coming months and in my mind that means around June/E3. It's the most sane choice and really logical when you look at it, I never expected gameplay or anything substancial before E3 and so far that seems to be the case.If I were running CDPR I'd start preorders right after I show a demo that I know will blow everyone away to get a general 'idea' of the kind of demand to expect.

Obviously you look at it in a different way and that's fine but to me it's not an issue at all.

It is not so much that I look at it differently. Showing a demo/extended trailer and then opening up pre-orders makes the most sense and will rake in the most money. It makes for one heck of a push and I do not expect any gameplay before or during E3. My point is rather that the flow of information seems very warped when compared to the one that was established with TW2. Updates are rare and that tidbit in the GOG stream is the first actual word they have said about the game in months.

I wasn't here during Witcher 2's marketing period but yeah we're starved for something. I suppose there was going to be more content from the beginning of this year onwards leading up to release but that got delayed.

I guess they'll open up E3 onwards and are keeping quiet for a big surprise, atleast I hope so.
All we know right now is, CDPR has a booth at E3, I'm wondering if they'll show up at one of the major conferences perhaps, Xbox again maybe?

Bungie, who have launched a brand new site for Destiny, have announced this:

Worldwide gameplay reveal PlayStation E3 press conference. June 10 2014

Which of the two approaches - CDProjekt's or Bungie's - is more likely to generate and sustain hype?

The one that actually maintains a line of contact, be it in the form of regular smaller updates or otherwise. I am not really hyped for Destiny because it is not my kind of game but they do make very clear what to expect with regular updates, tidbits and personal contact. Generating hype with a great looking trailer is good, yet if you keep completely silent after that without any follow up then you will end up losing that hype.

It's Bungie, they're known for Halo and shooting. As it so happens shooters sell quite a lot Destiny being one, and your 'average gamer' is most tempted by shooters. Plus they have the Halo reputation to ride on.

Witcher is an RPG. A genre that isn't really so appealing to your average gamer... well Skyrim kind of was but that was by not being an RPG and more of an action adventure game(highly appealing genre) so doesn't count. It's made by a polish company that is very famed among PC Gamers and RPG enthusiasts, but not your average gamer.

That said, if CDPR show their gameplay at E3 and it turns out to be... EXPLOSIVE! then no doubt it will generate hype. Personally I find most big devs to be going the low-risk high reward route meanwhile both the Witcher games blew me away with sheer raw quality so if they show people that they can create something unique, big and actually well thought out and not lazy autogenerated quests and areas then of course people will be amazed.

EDIT: I should also add that due to TESV, perhaps there will be more hype by people who expect TW3 to be like that game, which sort of worries me...

EDIT2: This whole post was based on the assumption that "Which of the two approaches - CDProjekt's or Bungie's - is more likely to generate and sustain hype?" referred to the hype at E3 not the PR tactics used by the companies which was what the quoted poster wanted to discuss.

The genre is entirely beside the point and I would also quarrel with most of your other assertions. On one hand, we have a Namco Bandai Berlin event just last week where a specially held TW3 presentation proved incapable of producing even a single line of new info. If you read the coverage of said event, you can see the lack of news is even starting to get on the journalists' nerves. We've been reading exclusive article after exclusive article, some even prefaced with teasers, only to realize their abysmal insubstantiality. I can guarantee if CDProjekt had anything at all to say, it would land on those articles irrespectively of how clumsy the interviewer's questions might be.

On the other hand, we have one line from Bungie - not a brand new site nor its weekly updates - one simple line from Bungie managing to satisfy and excite fans, to draw media attention and ultimately to hype the average gamer up until E3. I don't care for Destiny either, but well played out Bungie!
