This won´t be my problem. In moment game will give me control over the Geralt I will go explore the world and main s(tu)tor(ial)y won´t see me at least for ten hours.

I'm sure it'll be a forced sequence (Like Skyrim's opening sequence). However after consideration I do think it probably won't go for that long, maybe an hour tops. The Griffin Hunt demo was 10 Hours in, and already at level 7. The "Tutorial" surely couldn't be much more than an Hour if I consider that kind of evidence.

I guess I've just still got fond memories of enjoying that learning curve in TW2's Vanilla prologue. Not having any clue what a fucking "Igni" or "Aard" was but figuring out what everything did and how to use them and other elements of the combat system.. Getting my ass handed to me a few times whilst I learnt and then quickly overcoming that challenge and getting through it. It definitely was too brutal (For your average player), and I understand their desire to change it. If it's like The Witcher 1's prologue, then I'm cool. That was pretty 'hand-holdy' but it still worked great.

Maybe the Griffin hunt was still part of the tutorial where you hunted the monster for the first time. Basically Emhyr calls you, gives you quest to find Ciri and first steps to find her are introductions to story, gameworld and mechanics.

Nah everything seemed way too implemented to still be part of the tutorial.

Geralt had full access to all spells and abilities, potions were already recommended and it didn't look like the game was trying to teach you anything during that sequence. Everything already seemed pretty figured out. Not to mention that the 3 bolt crossbow is surely an upgraded version of it (Or talent/skill). I highly doubt you're going to be able to do that during the tutorial sequence.

Nah I personally feel that the tutorial will probably be a linear section (But I'm sure with some kind of classic Witcher decisions during it), which might go for like an hour or so tops and then the world will open up after it. I'm sure the game will keep introducing a few more in-depth things to you over the next couple hours, but it'll get the basic stuff out of the way.

All speculation bullshit of course.

I think you are right but I just thought about it more like introduction by gameplay. Basically some simplified version of stuff you will do later in game. It would not came to my mind but devs said that first ?10? hours in game will be for newcomers into series in some interview.

E3 Demo Combat Difficulty Interview at Eurogamer

This article actually ties to a number of threads/discussions going on. I'm honestly not surprised by this at all. They have a limited amount of time to show stuff, so you want to move through as quickly as possible to show as much as possible (plus you don't want your guy to accidentally dying during a live conference, etc).

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but it's interesting.

Jose says regarding the characters Yennefer and Ciri there will be choices

in the later part of the game, that change how things end with them~

I love how Jose says at 1:34 "newcomers to the Ciri".

Epic.

I think he's saying the word "series" not Ciri.

Man, this obsession has reached a new level zorn :p

Ugh, every time I hear more about this 'Prologue' I just get a bad feeling. Especially the use of words there is awful, hopefully it's just PR talk or John Mamais being John Mamais.
At the very least I guess if the prologue is really 'hand-holdy' then people who had no issues with TW2's system should absolutely blow through the 'Tutorial' in no time and get out of there.

Really? you'd hate the prologue? would you still hate it even if it was an optional tutorial set in kaer morhen and reintroduced us to Ciri, Vesemir and the other witchers?

Double posting again, sorry mods ><

BTW, how can i delete my double post ?

You can't, just going to have to wait for a mod to do it. You can help them just a tiny bit though,by editing your previous post, and copy pasting the content of the second, in the first, so that they don't have to merge them themselves. Oh and type Double Post on the second post. :p

Nah I wouldn't hate the Story part of it, I hope it'll be interesting and well done, but just if they really hand-hold the fuck out of you through it that's what I won't like.

But I guess that's what tutorial section is for, and as I said, it probably won't be that long. I dunno, I just prefer tutorials like TW2 where you get little bits of information but mostly you get to figure out how the game plays for yourself. However considering the average players TW2's tutorial was far too ambiguous and for introducing you properly to mechanics TW1's definitely did a much better job at that and the story took the fore-front and it never felt like it was super 'hand-holdy'.

So hopefully it's somewhat similar to TW1's and just feels really natural.

What I'd like to see is a custom exposition at the beginning. For players without imported savegames, it explains the backstory. For players WITH imported savegames, it updates you on what happened after the end of TW2, why the Northern Kingdoms are in such as mess, and why it's ALL YOUR FAULT because of the decisions you made in TW2. I think it would get you into the right mood for the rest of the game.

Yes, exactly !

He wanted to say "newcomers to the series", but he accidently says "newcomers to the Ciri".

Epic.

...the influence of Ciri is everywhere.

I agree that I hope the tutorials have a natural feel to them. Instead of an entire section of the game devoted to teaching you how to play, they should only pop up when the game has you doing that particular action for the first time. I think that type of thing is better for new comers and veteran players. New comers won't be overwhelmed by a ton of info at once and veterans arent bored by a bunch of simple tasks at once.

Have they said whether arm wrestling would be coming back as a mini-game? If so, I wonder how they'll go about it. Just sliding the mouse along was a little simplistic.

Just let me go fishing with Dandelion. Btw, what this card collecting mini-game could be about? I can't think of anything, really.

@Mohasz Barrel or Gwint in polish. Konrad said that in one of the interviews. http://witcher.gamepedia.com/Barrel
"The game was played noisily and heatedly, and a sturdy staff lay beside each player. These staffs were seldom used to beat an opponent, but were often brandished."
Give me that, please!!!

Oh! Thanks a lot. I didn't match the "collectible cards" with the dwarven playcard game from the books! Since dwavern cards are described as artworks I wonder if we will have cool illustrations.

Also, a growning beard that needs shaving! How cool is that!

Great, great, great!

All good info from Konrad there. Anybody have ideas on what the card game will be like? The Witcher hideouts is a fantastic idea, rooting through ancient caves to discover lore of past Witchers and their alchemical secrets.
