Well, at least he acknowledged he'd asked some dumb questions.

This is true. I did ask some dumb questions and while a friend pointed out that I could have just as easily not put those questions in there, I felt it led to some interesting points about being self published. I also don't mind poking fun of myself since this was a pretty spontaneous meeting. I do try to edit and fix English if there's a lot of "umm's" and fragmented thoughts, but I also like to keep it as close to what was said as possible so it still sounds like an actual conversation when they take place. There are Q&A's where questions are sent and then answers are just emailed back and they have a completely different feel.

As far as losing monsters is concerned, I think that if you can easily lose yourself in the world then it may not be that much of an issue. Damien gave me the impression that there will be a lot to do so even if you lose the monster, getting back on track will still be filled with adventure and that sounds good to me!

Welcome to the forums :)
To be honest, it was also good to see someone interviewing who KNEW that the previous game was self-published.

I agree. A few err, wonky questions in that - I did find it interesting on the mention of not necessarily being spoon-fed monsters' whereabouts during hunts etc. Apparently you can lose them while tracking/hunting them, and have to relocate/re-hunt them. Sounds like an interesting prospect. In theory at least.

Thinking about all this and how back at the beginning of last year CDPR insisted in quite a few of the previews that came out that the monsters weren't "bosses" I think it's safe to say they're being treated like any other monster in the game and I suspect there's multiple Griffins, Fiends etc...(unless this has already been confirmed). Obviously there's differences since they're bigger monsters with more advanced AI and not something like say drowners.

Thank you and it seems some people need to see pixel art graphics before they can call a studio indie. On a similar note, since CD Projekt Red didn't have a booth to themselves at PAX, finding them in the WB booth started that train of thoughts into my mind because the other two were distributed by Atari. It started a mild panic moment. I love it when a studio can remain independent.

But CD Projekt RED is not "indie". It is a division of CD Projekt, which is a poland publisher.
For example, Obsidian is indie, beacuse he hasn't a publisher.

Overcomplicating things there mate. CD Projekt RED is owned by CD Projekt S.A., Cdp.pl (the distribution branch, I think this is what you meant by "publisher") and GOG are also part of the same company. It's one big family.

To put it simple, CD Projekt develops and publishes the game on their own, thus they are independent (indie), distribution is being handled by other companies (aside from Poland I believe), but even those distributors were chosen by CDP and contracts were drafted accordingly.

CD Projekt is also owned by Warner. I don't they think they qualify as indie.

LOLNO.

They're not owned by Warner, where did you even get the idea? Warner is just distributing Witcher 3 for them in some regions. It's like saying Valve is owned by EA because EA did distribution for a few of their games.

hahaha.

btw good article on this subject: http://grumpygamer.com/what_is_an_indie .

So yeah, for me CDPR is indie developer because they are fully independent and they have creative freedom.

Warner is the responsible for the translation and distribuition for the game here in Brazil, if I'm not mistaken
