I don't like when the menu takes the whole screen. It's unnecessary.
Other than that I don't have a lot of issues with UI in general in gaming, as long as I don't have to "guess" something. I understand everything in TW3 UI, I guess it makes the UI ok.

I don't care much for the gird but I'll live with it.

Thank goodness. Everyone always says about how much they prefer the TW1 system - I hated it. I was starting to think I was the only one.

I liked the way that it showed Geralt with the swords (but then every game does that), but those horrible little boxes for everything else. The quest items? Check out the number of posts in the Tech Support section where people couldn't find something because of the side-scroll. And the Alchemy Sack was useless unless you added a mod to colour-code the ingredients.

TW2 was far from perfect, but it was still an improvement.

100% agreed. That's actually what I ended up doing: install a mod to color code the ingredients. I generally dislike list based inventory systems since I find inventories way more manageable with a grid but even with lists I found the TW2 system to be a bit better than the one in TW1.

Aren't you tired of red-orange colour of the inventory? Would it be better to return to cold tones of the first part?

I like the strict black-and-red inventory more.

Wasn't TW1 inventory your standard diablo-esque box-with-items? Yeah, that was fine. TW2 was a little too nouveau for me, thanks.
I saw this:

And had a MASSIVE surge of nostalgia. Massive.

Anywaaaay, compared to the murky, cluttered mess of TW2, yeah:

Oooo... that one was the best.
It's time to replay the W1.
And reread the books.

This is awesome. Everything stands out more and is easier to identify. It's also amazing how much they pack into a small space in the TW1 inventory. A little too small, really. It wasn't perfect but I still prefer it to TW2. TW3 looks like it's wasting screen space for the sake of big screen ( TV) legibility. I honestly hope the PC version is different than what we've seen.

The new menus looks really nice imo. Of course the rest of the game does too. I was just surprised they completely revamped the inventory, etc. I love the new look tbh.

Yeah, the new menus look pretty good.. I'm curious how good they are going to be to use with mouse+keyboard.. and the inventar model of Geralt doesn't reflect his in-game model perfectly - I mean his armor - skirt

It looks like it would work fine with KBM. It certainly looks better to me than 2's. It's kind of the same as TW1's, you have a big grid for items and then equipment next to it. You just don't have a transparent background really

I think that is good, because without the skirt you can see the pants.

Ehmmm, and thats a good thing? If the armor has a skirt, I want to see it if the inventar model should represent the current in-game model of Geralt.. if you don't wanna see the skirt but you want to see the pants, then just put another armor on him in which you can see those pants. but as i said, if the armor has skirt, let me see it ..
Anyway, I hope that If we want to switch from inventar to, for example the map and we are using the m+k, that we don't need to ESC first from inventar and then go to map - I want just one click and thats all - from one menu to another

I prefer the old one, the black makes it hard to see.

I love how much stuff we an collect and equip. 18 different slots, that's amazing. Looking at this and what I have read about the skill system this seems so be the deepest and most complex Witcher game so far

I thought it was cool how the grid adjusted its size based on category. Maybe the font could use more contrast as Joaty mentioned. The layout is much more sensible now. I hope we can go straight to categories instead of that initial selection screen, that seems redundant to me.

The new UI is awesome!

I remember seeing the E3 demo of last year and the thing that stuck out to me is how the UI had too much going on and aesthetically was not the greatest. The new UI keeps it simple and feels less cluttered, probably because of the background not being too distracting. I for one love what they did with it and like the fact that CDPR doesn't commit to things in a stubborn way alas "well we made it so deal with it" mentality, they seem to keep an open mind to create the best possible games.

Here are the two different UI's from then and now, tell me which you like better.

One point where I think the inventory could improve (if it doesnt have it already), is in adding the name of the piece you have equipped next to the slots, so i dont ahve to highlight the boots to know what boots are they, or learn the colors of the potions, just a small simple change.

It looks pretty good in general but not final, it seems too clean and empty to be final, but as long as it works well thats fine.
