Invincibility frame after finishers

Invincibility frame after finishers

It seems unlikely that CDPR will modify the cut scene finishers. My main issue with these is that it puts the player at a distinct disadvantage afterward. You are forced to roll one way or another, hoping that the enemy hasn't rearranged themselves during the cut scene. Basically it's a crap shoot, and your chances of getting unfairly tagged after a finisher are pretty good. For Aard lovers like myself, this really sucks. If CDPR can't implement these finishers in the 3rd person camera like they did in TW1, can they at least imbue Geralt with a brief invincibility frame afterward, so we don't get sucker punched by the enemy?

Weird. I've finished the game 7 times and never suffered because of the finishers. I always thought that the other enemies were frozen while Geralt did his thing.

I agree. I started avoiding finisher moves after noticing the same issues. They just brake the flow of the combat and sometimes I actually came close to dying since enemies were already swinging their swords at me before I had the time to react after the cutscene.

They should be in 3rd person but unlike in TW1 enemies shouldn't be able to do damage to you during them.

Yes maybe it would be better to make them in real time. Maybe something you can choose as well from skill point tree etc. Some might like bullet time mode where time slows down in adrenaline mode and some might like just plain simple finishers ..It's a good subject CDPR could expend and explode!

Not sure if I buy this. Try Aard stunning a Draug during the intro to act 2. You will get automatically thrown out of the protective shield. That means in-game events continue during the cut scene. You get penalized for using Aard. It makes no sense.

All the times in the arena in dark mode that I did a finisher move and found my self surrounded by 5 enemies (and died at the spot)...
Not_Slimgrin's idea actualy sound nice; not as much work for the devs as re-making the finisher move, yet still quite effective selution.

I removed the DLC from the game, and rarely use the adrenaline finisher (maybe just with the very last enemy).

I agree. I start raping the space button when the finishing cutscene is about to end. You're so busy with what's going to happen that you can't even enjoy the cutscene.

The cutscenes are certainly badass, but aren't worth dying for.

Never really had prob with finishers in the game but in the arena it does cause some prob ..... best solution would b to make the finishers 3rd person just making sure that the blood spatter still fals on the screen as it happens once u have unlocked the sudden death skill ....

The Heliotrope sign is like bullet-time. In my first play-through I had unlocked the adrenaline moves for both the Signs and the Sword tree so whenever I activated an adrenaline finisher, both triggered at once.

However I see several people here mentioning that the finishers should be in 3rd person mode. I distinctly remember the Sword tree's finisher being a 3rd-person cutscene where Geralt kills a guy or two nearby. Has a new type of finisher been added with the latest patches which is 1st person? I'm replaying the game now but I'm not far enough into it to activate finishing moves yet.

^^^ A better way to say it is the in-game camera. You can do finishers from the start via Aard. I need to play some more Arena to determine if combat time really does continue while you are watching a finisher. IMO it shouldn't. That's like wrapping a blindfold around Geralt and saying, "surprise sucker! We're over here!!"

Mod to Disable Finishers.

I've never considered to be a problem except in Arena, where it can be a real nuisance.

First of all I agree with OP (as I have heard that this is a serious problem for melee builds) but as the poster above, I usually unlock both the heliotrope and melee finisher, making the problem non-existent for such builds.
