Is it just me, or is Yen... [Spoilers}

Telling Geralt what to wear to the wake, and that remark about how he is an accessory. Whatever Yen. ::) Geralt was already planning on dumping you.

Oh, but Triss also told him what to wear to the masquerade. Here should be the easiest comparison for those who don't see it.

Yennefer tells him what to wear because he is reflecting on her in other people's eyes. He truly is an accessory.

Triss tells him what to wear because she thinks he looks great, thinks it makes him look great. It's yet another example of her unconditional regard for him. Her suggestions are never done in a cruel or covertly manipulative way.

PS: You waited? My Geralt dumped her sorry ass a *long* time ago.

This is a great example!

It's understandable that both women would want Geralt to look good for the different events so both suggests he wear something nice.

With Triss, there is no pressure. Dress nice but in whatever is comfortable. I picked the black Skillege Tunic with the Nilfgaard boots and pants. Triss remarks that he certainly took her suggestion to heart. Meaning that she didn't even expect him to go all out.

Yen, there is pressure. You must compliment her look the way she wants you to. In my first playthrough I picked the Blue Skillege tunic with Nilfaard pants and boots. Yen hated it and called Geralt an accessory. In my 2nd pt, I put a simple white shirt on with the same Nilfgaard pants and boots. Black and white. Yen still complained because it wasn't what she set out.

lol!! Yeah my Geralt waited. Namely because I was roleplaying him as being a bit conflicted about his feelings. Poor sod.

Next time I want to try and spread out the Triss content as much as I can to try and find some balance with the canon story I want to have. Such as, head to Skillege and do all the quests with Yen et al, break up with her after the Djinn quest and unicorn sex, then head back to Novigrad for Triss's Now or Never quest. That way it feels more like Geralt has sorted out his feelings for Yen before picking Triss. Instead of him still being conflicted after already choosing her.

@Hazevamp

It's funny you say this...Yen bitched about everything except the Nilgaardian outfit in my playthrough of her path.

Couldn't pick anything else for the masquerade with Triss. The one without frilly shit went with the wolf mask too well!

lol! Yeah I think Yen likes that Nilfgaard outfit the best or something. I HATE that outfit. I made the pants work with the Skellige tunic and simple shirt but that entire outfit is just......

Hopefully Yen will find a man who loves dressing like that. Maybe she should hook up with Voorhis. lol!

i've copy pasted this comment i made about yen and my thoughts of her from another thread, there are NO spoilers regarding the game, its all based on the books i've read.

having read some of the books (my position on yen), yen has developed a shell to protect herself of getting hurt, but also it made her blunt, more over being a sorceress she is to be one of the people that leads, so taking all of these (and other "issues") under consideration she is a very "in your face" person, she rarely waits to respond to things and rather "grab the bull by the horns" , she sees something needs to be done and says fuck it all ill do it and not just sit around and scratch my bum lollygagging, more over to me it seems that she doesnt want to appear "weak" in any form to the people she loves/respects(this bit will be tie in alittle further down the post).

she is strong willed, independent, take charge kind of person and thats exactly how she is portrayed, i would agree that on some occasions she comes off bitchy and a farking coontish (and that thinking that is because of ignorance and not possessing the knowledge from the books), but thats keeping up with the established character and afaik CDPR tried to the best of their ability to stick to the books (of course they let themselves keep some wiggle room so they can do their thing which diverges from the canon).

i can speak from personal experience that strong willed people/people that like things to go their way, can cause a relationship to have hitches/frictions/and what have you.

in some ways i feel i am similar to how yen behaves, but its not out of disrespect or want to insult or hurt someone, but because i think they deserve to be told exactly what i think and not beat around the bush, to me it feels i would be disrespecting them if i tried to sugar coat things for them.

Yeah, except the game still treated Geralt and Yen as a couple after you've broke up with her.

It didn't. I don't like Yen and I dumped her as soon as possible, but outside of her giving Geralt a very awkward kiss at Kaer Morhen when he returned with Ciri their romantic relationship was over.

They still remained close and Yen was obviously upset over Geralt going with Triss.

I was a bit confused at first by Yen's bitching as i was wearing what appeared to be sensible outfit and then i realised i still had my gloves on.
This time i'm going to dress to deliberately annoy her.

Same. This time I am gonna dress as flamboyantly as possible, AND I am gonna drink.

Yen might be arrogant and cold but she is different when it comes to people she loves. She might be bitchy at times but at the end of the day she would not hesitate to die for Geralt (as she demonstrated at the end of book series).

And yes she is cold to Geralt at the beginning but wouldn't you be as well if you were in her place? As she explained in game she didn't know about Geralt's amnesia. So when she recovered from her amnesia and found out that Geralt was fucking her best friend instead of looking for her, of course she was upset and hurt.

As an aside, never really did see how Yen and Triss were friends at all from the way they interacted.

I don't think they can be consindered friends anymore.Triss betrayed Yen too many times at this point.

Yennifer clearly isn't mad at Triss in the game and expresses how she's her closest friend (present tense).

Of course, I'm still genuinely confused at how Triss did anything wrong given it's not like amnesiac Geralt is a child. He's an adult, he makes his own decisions.

Triss didn't tell him about Yen.If she did he probably wouldn't have slept with her and tried to find Yen instead.

Well just from in the book they don't really seem that friendly and Yen is either scolding her or snarking at her - I guess consequence of the storyline there.

Your Geralt maybe, my geralt already knew of Yen and still slept with Triss (elven bath scene)

Everyone who defends Yen says she does bad things for Ciri and Geralt, which I suppose is true, although she isn't very nice to Geralt. She values her own independence and freedom above everything else, but she doesn't give two shits about ordering Geralt around and making decisions on his behalf, it was really quite hypocritical to me. But to me, being willing to burn the entire world and everyone else in it for one, maybe two people does not make you a good person, just a selfish one. Believe that your daughter is worth the death of everyone else's daughter.

Uh, duh, @Zyvik, that's kind of the basis for the game.

Yennefer still forgives her.

They're merrily chatting it up at Kaer Morhen when prepping for the Wild Hunt. If you DON'T romance Triss, Yennefer invites her to come to Kaer Morhen on her own.

They have a weird-weird relationship. Not the least bit because Yennefer used to sleep with Triss herself.

There was a certain thing Triss did in the book Tower of the Swallow that Yennefer said she would never forgive her for.

Yennefer says a lot of things.

Hell, her first interaction with Geralt after "The Last Wish" is threatening to murder him and that she will never ever speak to him again.

Also, I remind you, Yennefer cheated on Geralt constantly.

The whole idea that Triss is a scheming hussy with Geralt kind of ignores Yennefer carried a romantic relationship with Istred alongside Geralt for six months without his knowledge.

Geralt cheated on Yennefer constantly, even after the "I love you" moment. Yennefer didn't cheat on him at all after he got Ciri, and before that they were on again off again with him just suddenly leaving at times without so much as a goodbye.
