Is it okay to remove disc after game starts up?

I sent an e-mail to atari but I havn't heard back from them so I thought Id ask here. When you launch the game it asks for the dvd disc to play so I Insert it, then let it load and the game starts, but if I take the dvd out after that in the main menu, the game still works fine, doesnt seem to ask for it again. Is that okay? can I play it like that or will it ask for the dvd again. I have the witcher enhanced edition. Also I havn't really gotten far into the game so I'm not sure of the effects of doing this. Hopefully someone will be able to offer some feedback on this. Thanks

thanks for the reply, Thats weird I have since tried the game further without the disc like as described above, and at a loading screen it has yet to crash. and it has loaded and saved sucessfully. Very odd, and just so no one asks I DO NOT have any sort of crack installed. I dont want to mess up a save game though either. Any other thoughts.By the way i have played thus far without any problems to the part where theres 4 evil wolves chasing some women to some Inn.
