Is It possible to patch the turned down visual effects/features back? How capable is the Redkit?

First I want to say that the game looks stunning, and CDPR really did a great job on creating this vivid witcher world, I can see all the hard work that has been put into the game. But my point is, there is potential for the PC platform to perform better, since the PC platform has much capable hardware. Since all the platforms are sharing the same build, which is from the lowest performing output system, it feels like the PC version is ported. (Maybe I shouldn't say this) So, Is It still possible for the devs to patch the turned down visual effects/features back??

Features such as:
"Level of horizon detail (essentially the draw distance had to be completely tuned down to tax the consoles less)
Volume based translucency
Ambient occlusion and foliage density / tree count
Flexible water simulation / tessellation we resorted to a (script texture effect similar to most games than physical based simulation)
Ground/building tessellation
Forward lit soft particles (this is the fire, smoke, fog that you would encounter while going through thick terrain into open space)
Real-time reflections in the water are completely off and replaced with a cheaper render solution estimator (this is a primary reason blood splatter was also removed from water)"

lets assume its gonna cost too much for the devs, then can we rely on the up coming RedKit to achieve anything similar?

And there is the Nvidia Gameworks, what other features are included in the PC version other than Hairwork?

You may not need to...

Here's what we know so far.

Benzenzimmern Posted this:

We never switched the textures. On pc, you now have the option to activate "Ultra" quality textures with the full resolution. However, the difference that many people see with new and old footage was a strong sharpening filter in 2013 that looks awesome on screenshots and in short videos, but strains the eyes after a short while if there is a lot of movement (leaves and grass swaying in the wind as an example). That's why it was decided to tone that effect down. However, people who really want to have it can of course use the Redkit to change the environment settings. It's just a matter of taste.

Sorry I should of said after this - HE SAID this was from the PC VERSION. He did NOT STATE that this was the FINAL PC VERSION.

And also - if you read this article - He posted this: http://www.dsogaming.com/news/cd-pro...ese-platforms/

As Marcin noted, the differences between the PC and the PS4 version will be:

– draw distance
– framerate
– resolution
– exclusive features such as hairworks

Everything seems to be leading that the PC version should be able to hit the 2013 / e3 2014 video quality. HOWEVER no one has seen this in the past few weeks. The only video I can find that looks better than what we've been seeing is Angryjoe's preview build gameplay. Which is.. .here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJpWBMH9EtQ - BUT even this has lower texture quality, and before anyone jumps on the youtube bandwagon. I understand YT compression, yada yada yada. HOWEVER, the 2013 / e3 2014 videos are all on youtube and they still look better.

And once and for all - They don't like the term downgrade, because some don't believe the 2013 / e3 2014 videos were actually true IN GAME footage (DESPITE it saying it was) ... and then some also believe you are able to get those settings back with a few options in game. that is why the term downgrade is not correct in this sense. And if you want another final proof on that one, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU9rlkCOk9E -

First 5 minutes explains it all.

The end. It comes down to - if you pre-ordered it and hate the recent footage, I would cancel it - wait for the first few weeks, see what INI tweaks can take place and see where the game goes from there.

I think some people were talking about tweaking some extra settings in .ini files. Maybe those could help who knows. We'll find out after the game releases.

There isn't yet any confirmation what so ever that any of these features have been removed are reduced.

Should that be the case is is not impossible they could be brought back with a hypothetical DirectX 12 patch as that will increase the performance of the title giving the developers more room to add further graphical effects that more people could enjoy.

I would probably give my first born child for a DX12 patch for the Witcher 3.

Ah-ha! Another visuals thread!

And the question was answered. So, BEFORE WE GO NUTS AGAIN, I'm locking this. Then, I'm going up to my room to salute my picture of Great Censors We Have Known.

JUST as you all suspected!

Kisses,

Sard.

As an aside, despite what Phaino said up there, we the mods hate the downgrade term GENERALLY because it causes great dissension and upset. Just not worth the trouble of putting out another screaming flamewar.
