is it worth waiting a month before playing

+
If you're asking if anyone who frequents this board will wait a month to play, because of bugs that MIGHT exist? No way.

Besides, this is your decision.

What's with kids these days, not being able to make decisions on their own? Its amazing.

Who you calling a kid, I'm 41 lol. Just wanted opinions, jeez. Besides which EVERY game has bugs at release

I was wondering if its worth worth waiting to play this game to let them patch anything that comes up or just biting the bullet and playing on day 1? I'm not expecting completely bug free on day 1, but I'm also hoping that I can dive right in and hope its playable from the start. I don't want a ruined experience from the start coz of a quest bug etc. What you guys think?

Well "worth it" is an odd way of phrasing. Would it do you any harm to wait a month? Nope. You may possibly hear spoilers from friends or online, but otherwise waiting a month wouldn't hurt. Well, you also don't get the same "fun" as people who play it from the start getting the free DLC drops. You would get them, but you would get the first ones as a batch, rather than waiting each week for a new DLC. I collect comics and kind of like having to wait a month for the next issue. I like teh anticipation and that you would partially miss out on.

Are there any benefits to waiting a month might be a better question. In that regard, you would be able to patch the game with whichever patch or patches are available at the time. Certainly if there was some sort of game blocking bug on opening day (there isn't, but for the sake of argument) you would get that right away and be able to play whereas first day adopters would have to wait. However, even if there are bugs that may be patched, there is no guarantee that all bugs will be patched by the time you decide to buy. Our team has already worked to minimize any bugs in the game. If bugs are discovered after launch, it may take a month or whatever to discover the bug, reproduce, fix and then release to the public. So there isn't a guarantee that waiting does you any good either.

I think you should consider: Can I afford the game financially (the game will be here when you have the money to buy it)? Can I afford it time wise (do I have enough time to sit and play or should I be focused on family/school/work now)? and do I really want it (or should I get that surgery I've been putting off or whatever). If you answer yes to all three, then you should buy it now. If you answer no to any, maybe consider waiting until you can say yes to all three. :)

I personally don't see any fun in it and would prefer the full experience from the start. Just my personal preference of course.

Are you saying that CDPR split those add-ons off on purpose for the novelty factor?

<sarcasm on>Really? You stating your personal preference was your personal preference? I totally didn't understand that. I thought you were talking for someone else, just like I was. <sarcasm off>

No Gilrond, I didn't say that. You can tell I didn't say that because I actually didn't say that. Maybe you are imagining that I did say that, but if you look at the words I used, you can see I didn't actually say that or anything close to it.

Hmm... the sarcasm off button seems to be broken. I'll try to get that fixed.

First off it keeps people interested and coming back to the game close enough to when the expansions come out. People that just enjoy the game and give feedback and bug reports. And like they said about a month ago NONE of the DLCs were done yet. I don't want to wait longer to have all the DLCs bundled together.

No Gilrond, I didn't say that.

So, to the point of the question, it means that reason is technical? I.e. those add-ons will be literally developed in the upcoming weeks? And if not (i.e. they are already developed), and not for the novelty factor, what is the reason not to include them in the initial release then?

Nice to to see someone who actually works for the company, is replying seriously to an honest thread for opinions, scarcasm off!!! Doesn't fill me with a whole lot of confidence mate in terms of your bug squashing abilities if you can't even reply properly.

I usually do a couple of "practice" starts to learn the mechanics where I try out various things but don't progress terribly far into the main quest. Thus allows me to get a feel for how the game works, experiment a bit and figure out which way I want to play and what options I.like. Then I'll start a serious playthrough.

If we were relying on my ability to squash bugs, we would indeed be doomed. Fortunately, I am just the fast-talking jerk on the forums and people with skills do all the hard stuff. :)

I really doubt early patches will change graphics significantly in any way. Major overhauls happen usually after a while, since it takes time to develop them (if they ever happen at all). For instance if in the future CDPR will rewrite the engine to use cutting edge APIs like Vulkan (or DX12), they might as well bump up graphics using spare performance resources that were freed that way. But it's not going to happen any time soon (if ever).

That said, all these "downgrade" concerns are premature. Wait for the game to come out and see for yourself (or wait for quality reviews after the release).

Really? How this can be? I thought this is a nice forum, admin just closed my posting with my questions? I didn't been rude or something. :( So many people asking this and I really don't understand why nobody can take a response...

I'm not sure the question about "downgrades" is valid at this point. The game isn't even released yet. It would be valid after the release if it's indeed the case.

I think that if you're concerned, then wait. The game's not going anywhere. If you're strapped for cash, or if you're genuinely concerned about the possibility of glitches (a reality of current gen, along with RPG's and Open World Games) then wait, man. In the end, it all comes down to how big a fan you are of the character, and how much you trust the developer. But, even with all that said...there's seriously no shame in waiting to see how things shake out.

Waiting to see what pans out is way more productive than some of the other things I've seen, like the tossing of accusations at a game that hasn't been released yet. If you're very concerned about the product, then protect yourself as a consumer and wait and see.

Maybe wait for the game to be released? I think maybe then people will be able to respond. It seems too soon, really.
