Is Mr. Hands the most evil and horrible character in Cyberpunk?

+
The side gig: Talent Academy is both a drag to get through with stealth, as well as being super uncomfortable with how Hands is more than happy to be a bystander while juvenile athletes are bought, sold, and chipped with newer cyberware. The fact that most of them are doing it to support their families is even worse when you think about the kids sacrificing pieces of themselves physically and mentally just to be a better athlete. Hands just tells you you’re soft if you bring it up after you complete the gig, so that tells me that he accepted this part of our dystopia, which doesn’t make him evil, but it does make him scum just like every other bystander.

Sure Hands isn't necessarily a "Good" person, but compared to the real sadists and monsters of this world He's definitely not the "Most Evil", Besides most of your "Evidence" of him being evil is based on you're assumption(granted a fair one) that he is working directly with/for the NUSA... but working with a government is no more evil in this world, than working for the darker sides of any major corp.
Hands is part of the FIA-Militech nexus, which places itself both above separate corporations and any government. This structure is supranational, and if the conjecture that Hands does not care whether Myers remains alive after the shuttle disaster is correct - then he has his own scenarios for any situation.

In any case, apparently this topic has become a trap for Mr Hands. If ever, under any circumstances, during a subsequent Cyberpunk game update or the sudden release of a new add-on, one of the players discovers that Hands knew of So Mi's intentions beforehand and closed his eyes on her, preferring not to see her actions, or that he planted the information of neuromatrix on her, the trap will work. All the elements of the picture I've painted will fall into place. And we will realise that Hands is the main spider at the head of the web he has carefully created in the world of Cyberpunk.

Since Mr. Hands is extremely secretive and protected for the most part (partly by CDPR writers) from direct analysis of his personal information, I think now the open data about him that can be found in Cyberpunk is mostly exhausted. Anything we could find in direct access, we plus minus have already found. So it is now likely that if we want to learn anything about this colorful character, we will now have to move from “indirect” methods of data collection to “completely indirect”, or “indirect-indirect” methods. This borders on intellectual insanity, of course, but what to do?
This brings into focus two interesting characters that are related to Hands (if not by the lore of the game, then at least logically).
One of these characters is Sandra Dorsett. The other character is so in the shadows, and so closed and peculiar, that I don't even know if I should talk about him here - perhaps he deserves a separate topic.
So, Sandra:

This girl, like many in Night City, lives a double or even triple life.
On the first level, she is an arrogant, yet vulnerable and frightened corporate girl, whom V and Jackie rescue from the Scavengers' lair at the very beginning of the game.
Next, she appears as a talented netrunner, infiltrating closed areas of Cyberspace in an attempt to ferret out the secrets of the Night Corporation.
And on the third level, she is a cunning, clever and cruel agent of the New United States Intelligence Agency, the curator of a huge network of netrunners operating clandestinely in Night City.

She, or her accomplices attack a Netwatch patrol outside of Night City, and take out a Watch agent with the call sign “Gacut”. The Watch agents' computer reveals both the extent of Sandra's espionage activities and a long list of agents affiliated with her and working under her command in Night City.

This network is (possibly!) worth searching for additional data on Hands. Well, there's a reason why the CDPR lists all those agents with approximate locations where they could be found, right? Otherwise it would just be a great prank. (y)

Hands, I believe, is much more secretive and experienced than Sandra - working in the secret departments of corporations has taught him a lot. It's hard to expect him to make the mistake of leaving open data about sepba. However, Sandra is younger, less experienced (as apparently are most of her employees), more impulsive, and easy to make mistakes. I don't rule out the possibility that Hands' data could be extracted from her intelligence network.

As can be seen from the above data, this particular assignment of Sandra is more concerned with the activities of Netwatch, while Mr. Hands tries not to get involved in confrontation with this organization, and even on the contrary, attracts mercenaries (V) to help the Watch in its work. In any case, however, Sandra's netrunner group data can be extremely useful.

(I only ask that you understand me correctly - I've gone through Cyberpunk 6 or 7 times with different endings, and I won't be the person to go through the game again, aiming specifically at finding these netrunners and their data. Well if someday there will be an ardent Cyberpunk fan endowed with a strong will and enthusiasm, this forum post might help him in his quest, who knows ))).

He may have some involvement with it. I take it for business as usual.
Did you know... V can end Myers if they so desire?

"Hey, hey, pipe down. Already got one holowhiner in my head, don't need another"

I was rolling on the floor watching this.

Thank you for pointing this out to me. I agree this is hilarious.

Unless we agree with Mr. Hands and the N.U.S.A general initiative, then what does that make us in your eyes?

Everytime I could help Netwatch, NightCorp or the Government I did, because at least they ain't playing this game of power just to satisfy their little ego, they have a bigger picture in mind.

And even then, it doesn't matter considering Antarctica is being destroyed by those fucking Corporate fools, meaning that A.I won't even have the time to kill or enslave all humans, they'll destroy themselves first.

Not that Hands horrifies me...in some ways I even like him. But...for the sake of fairness, I'll put my purely subjective view of this man "on the court of public opinion" )

It's time to voice our thoughts on Night City's main villain - Wade Bleecker aka Mr. Hands! Let's start the discussion with the intercepted correspondence between Hands and Lt. Col. Bennett on Hands' laptop in his office:

And some people believe that Mr. Hands is "just a fixer, just one of them"...

Ok, what do we see here?
1. Cynosure is one of the most secret projects of the NUSA and Militech (as well as Netwatch!), a project that is personally supervised by President Rosalind Myers and which is generally the key to the survival of the NUSA in the fight against "Arasaka" and their rival technologies (Relic\Soulkiller).
How many other fixers in the game are aware of the existence of this project?
Who are of these "fixers" and under what conditions they can access this level of information?
And how many of them will be left alive after, given Netwacht's methods of preventing information leaks (see the gig "Shot from both sides").
Not only does Hands have the necessary security clearance, but he also allows himself to operate on this information about the project in a conversation with a third party - in this case, Colonel Hansen's first deputy. Who can afford it?

I'll be brief here: Hands is not a fixer. It is impossible for a fixer to participate in a project of this level.

2. Hands knows the name and purpose of the Cynosure project. Concerned about maintaining the secrecy of the project. Aware of the existence of "underground bunkers". Is it logical to assume he knows everything else? - What exactly is the tech hidden underground, and what are the risks of trying to access it? I believe the answer is positive here.

Next: Message log from Shuttle 1 (probably Songbird's workstation).

What do we have here?
1. The FIA was interested in the attempted theft of Relic's chip even before the immediate events in Kompeki Plaza. So Mi lies to V when she says that he was chosen at random from all the mercenaries simply because his biochip was the only one she could connect with. It isn't true. The FIA had been watching V (as a carrier of the Relic chip) back in Night City, long before he showed up at the borders of Dogstown.
2. There was an FIA informant agent in the group that attacked the hotel. Who exactly? Assuming that the "employer" mentioned in the report is Evelyn Parker, we cross her off the list of suspects. (And there is no way an FIA agent could have acted as stupidly as she did). That leaves Dexter De Shawn, Jackie Wells, V and...T-Bug. Further, since the report refers to "two mercenaries who may have killed Saburo", Jackie and V are also off the table. Who's left? The sweet couple, Dexter and Bug.....
Dexter famously shot our favorite V in the head with a pistol - almost in the exact spot where the chip should have been. It is unlikely that an agent with an interest in Arasaki's chip would act so irresponsibly toward valuable corporate property. (Although, rabid fans of the game might remind me that Dex fired a small caliber pistol...but we'll see if that rings a bell :D )
3. (Of course, there's a spicy point here - if we talk about all the people involved in the hotel chip theft in one way or another, two more characters emerge - Yoko and .....Judy Alvarez). We'll talk about Yoko a little later, but here I suggest you evaluate for yourself the probability that Judy is an undercover FIA agent. I wonder what kind of "double track braindance" she was recording underwater while swimming with V through the streets of her childhood village and what kind of equipment she was using.
And..Speaking of T-bug one more time... Here is the list of agents and employees killed or missing in action that Alex left in the boiler room under the Moth Bar: (Interestingly, Slider was apparently already involved with the FIA)
View attachment 11392471

4. Thus, the FIA agent in V's team, "informant O-1257" was T-bug. It was from her that the agency has been monitoring the chip theft situation.
Not surprisingly, Hands calls V right after the police take Evelyn's Parker body from Judy Alvarez's house (or right after Judy - Judy again lol !) likely signs the police report thus sending Evelyn's death details to the NCPD database. It is at this point that Hands calls V, and introduces himself as a "fixer" from Pacifica - he can't overlook V - the owner of Relic biochip now.

5. Naturally, the Night City police database is completely transparent to Hands. If we recall the situation when V takes Reed's side, and after the Firestarter mission begins to pursue the escaped So Mi, it is Hands who calls V and offers the services of his own netrunner, who specializes in hacking into police databases. In a strange coincidence, this netrunner is Yoko :)
Of course, I remember that V has other options here - Nix, Sandra Dorsett, etc., but if V accepts Hands' offer, the netrunner is Yoko ))
The same Yoko that T-Bug had sent V to before the heist in Kompeki-Plaza - supposedly to get to take an important netrunner's script (In fact, for Yoko to make personal contact with V - for backup).

It would seem that the above information is already sufficient to identify Mr. Hands as an important high-ranking officer of FIA, working under the cover of a "businessman and fixer", enjoying a very high level of personal protection,
View attachment 11392477
very independent and virtually unaccountable to anyone in his activities. Hands is personally in charge of a very important operation - the elimination of Colonel Hansen. At the same time, he is guided in his activities by team ethics and collectivism - he helps his organization, no one in the FIA could accuse him of unprofessionalism or disloyalty.

It's easy to see that most of the assignments and gigs Hands gives V are related to the Remnants of project Cynosure, Militech deserters, Bargest links to criminal underworld, covert Arasaka and Zetatech operations. Hands is disciplined.

Hands honestly serves the interests of the NUSA and Militech, he has achieved a great deal in the FIA and may even be the head of the organization, I wouldn't be surprised if in fact he is.

However, this is not the whole truth about Hands. His true colors and his deeds are much more horrible!

( A graphic depiction of how Hands makes V work for the FIA )), giving him tasks )

Here, within this topic, we will have to move gradually, step by step, calibrating our movements.
Mr. Hands is unique to the world of Night City. I know of no other character who uses a defense similar to his. Mr. Hands NEVER DOES ANYTHING WITH HIS OWN HANDS! And that's the main problem with any argument against Hands - he just leaves no trace.. He divides all his work between field agents and outside mercs. I guess that's why he got his nickname...
I stated in another thread that V may have to upset Mr. Hands (paraphrasing) should V return in Orion. I certainly hope that V does because there's way too much work to be done in NC to just forget and start fresh.

I've always thought T-Bug is still alive. It's all a ruse. Getting caught just at that moment... nah, too coincidental. And Yoko covering for her. If V does return that would make for one hell of a mission to find T-Bug and uh... deal with her. Oh, after the interrogation. Great post! Thanks.

While I fully understand (And agree with) the fact that the FIA and NUSA cannot be trusted and are capable of Betrayal/Wrong Doing/Evil.... I still don't see how that definitively makes MR. Hands the most evil.

1st It's a bit subjective to begin with, as it can vary based on how one defines "evil" and what scale they see as lesser or more evil. But 2nd, there are so many blatantly "Bad" characters in the game It's easy for anyone to have their own ranking. For me The true Sadistic monsters of the world will rank as the true evils. MR. Hands may be unscrupulous and underhanded.... But I think he has some sort of moral code, and a vision.

The question is how in a world full of "bad" and "evil" do we rank what is the worst. Is it by most harm done? is it by intention? is it by who it effects ?
I'd say the people making XBDS with kids, are the most purely evil in this world. Or the Scavs harvesting organs and implants... If evil is a spectrum from Least to Most.... I just don't thinks hands ranks all that high. Sure of all the Fixers in the game he is definitely the most mysterious, secretive and least trustworthy. (Not counting Dex who does outright betray V) But definitively most evil I just don't agree. Now the claim he the most Dangerous I can agree with that, Intelligence plus self interest plus indifference to others is a dangerous combination, I just don't think he's the type of guy to watch the world burn just for kicks or to harm the innocent for a laugh.
I don't know if Mr. Hands is evil but, he is quite devious and a master manipulator. With the Bree gig he wants the information Bree is after. That's why Dante Caruso (the nosy neighbor from Bree's apartment with the 1970's porn star 'stache) follows V and confronts them in the Militech Cynosure area under Dogtown. If you let Dante succeed or if you should zero them both, Hands is still happy. He's been playing V pretty much the entire game. Since Hands has a mirror for the behavioral implant tech, then, who is he really? Are there two mysterious entities in NC in Mr. Hands and Mr. Blue Eyes or is Mr. Blue Eyes also Mr. Hands?
