Hi people! I write this for a concern I have, when i saw the announcement of REDkit, it said that they had a couple of modders working already, and that the moment the beta is open, mods will fly through out the sky (not exactly, they said: we have a couple mods in the making) and the only mods I have seen are the dark mode effects remover, a couple of shadders and Lykaon, but I was expecting a little more. So I think that the mods are there, but they are just being made right now, I just want to know how many of you are working on mods?
Its just that the community feels a bit.... "dead" except for a couple of guys.

I think it's moreso to do with the general difficulty in creating mods with the Redkit. There aren't a lot of tutorials on how to do a lot of the functions with it. Add to that the editor is a little unstable right now.

Games like Skyrim maximize the potential of their editors and allow them to create really simple mods really quickly. It's why it takes less then an hour for a newbie to create a house in his first mod. It was intentional for an open world style game where detail wasn't necessary compared to maximizing production of maps.

However with the Redkit a lot of detail goes into creating it's worlds, so it might take some time creating an actual adventure worth playing.

Personally I wanna try and make a TC myself.

The witcher doesnt have quite as big an audience as skyrim etc., but mods will come for sure. Right now where just kinda swinging in the dark hoping to hit something, but once the documentation gets better more will catch on.

I agree with you.

I must add that by essence I think that REDkit is better than Skyrim's Creation Kit in terms of experience and customization, but most things are harder to do with it and some stuff is a bit complicated/redundant.

Skyrim is a good game, but somehow i feel devoted to The Witcher and CDPR as a whole. I'm currently trying my best with REDkit but sadly i think i will have to wait for more tutorials or climb over some stumps i have encountered by luck and my wits..hehe. Its only been like....a couple months? anyway..so

On top of all I think there are issues with RedKit not being the most stable of software and I also heard it has issues with cooking mods into the game. I personally can't use it at all since it keeps crashing every 5-10 minutes and nothing I do helps. I think it will become significantly more popular after a few patches.

Also do not forget how many Skyrim mods are actually equipment and gameplay modifiers. I, for one, was never interested in the mod adventures, and I usually use script mods and gear mods to customize the core game experience rather than getting into a new one. With RedKit it's very tough to do because the exporter is only for 3Ds max and is not fully featured as far as I know, so importing stuff other than just static meshes is not possible. Also the Witcher Script studio, required for gameplay mods, is not an easy nut to crack for someone who doesn't have much programming knowledge and there are not many tutorials on that.

All in all: typical beta issues. It usually gets better if the product doesn't stay in beta for too long.

The RedKit is the only softwere imho i can use to make a solid mod with. But as for now: it is unstable and not rly easy. I'm projecting a 1000x1000m Dark Island atm, and doing it... slowly and solidly, since I don't want to stop myself on doing something i don't get too much, and what is missing tutorials for.

Keep ur patiance! From the perspective of a modder such as me: there will be a time to announce a project 1-3 months before W3 comes. For more hype, and more FUN for players prepering themselfs for W3 (specially while mod is telling a story soon after Nilfgraad rushing the north - like mine one). Also, Redkit is still a BETA in fact.
