I played both TW1 and TW2 an incalculable amount of time. They are great games and the only thing that really matters is your passion towards them. Focusing only on the graphics seems a shallow POV...
Hear hear. Completely agreed.I honestly am still partial to TW1 over TW2. Of course, this board naturally attracts people who are the most invested in the series, and that often (but not always!) means they are fans of the first game, but I definitely think the criticisms over the first game's combat are overblown, and (though many seem to disagree with this view), actually prefer TW1's story and chapter pacing. I think the Outskirts of Vizima were a much stronger opening to TW1 than Flotsam was to TW2 - though many seem to think the Outskirts are actually the weakest part of TW1.
So, I would say that anyone should definitely play TW1. It's a rare gem of an RPG and one of the best games released in the past decade, as far as I'm concerned.
Agreed. I played a lot of times, but the first Act is my favourite of all. But you can find something to love in every chapter though.I honestly am still partial to TW1 over TW2. I'm actually there now (first time player) and agree completely that it's probably the best looking place so far. This is my frist time playing the Witcher as I've had it for ages (purchased 2010) but only played the prologue. With Wild Hunt coming out, I'm determined to get through this and AoK.Hear hear. Completely agreed.
I'm actually playing through The Witcher 1 at the moment and just arrived at Murky Waters.

It's been a while since I've played the game and I'm (again) just blown away by how beautiful this chapter is. In fact, I'm not sure if there is any place in The Witcher 2 that's even close to this beautiful and atmospheric. Or in any other games I've played..
Do you use two screens/an ultra wide-screen? Damn... the high resolution and the panorama view make it look even better.Hear hear. Completely agreed.

Just one. The Dell UltraSharp U3415W. 34" 3440x1440 21:9 curved monitor.Do you use two screens?
You can eliminate a lot of the backtracking by completing every single quest you can in the Temple Quarter before going to the swamp in Chapter 2. Do this and you don't have to make many trips with the ferryman.Yes it's playable, if you can stomach the backtracking across that godawful swamp for a couple of chapters.
Personally, I am finding it difficult to force myself to replay it due to that reason. Too much time unnecessarily wasted on tedious things that bring nothing to the game.
I accidentally open the game and replay it all the time
Happens to me all the time. I mean they're so similar and all..("Sorry I'm late, but I accidentally hit the TW icon again and found myself half-way through Chapter 2 before I realised I wasn't in Excel")
