I don't think so, even not the best chapter in TW trilogy...

Big fan of TW1 ;) / TW2, i'm disappointed.
All "old school rpg's elements" are gone (importance of meditation/alchemy), combat is boring, story line/choices (except few moments) are almost insipids comparing to TW1 / TW2 (after 230 hours for my first run on TW3), importance of past choices is ignore.
Of course it's beautiful, but every interesting little thing of previous chapters are diluted in this fake open world...

I still got this impression that this game was made for lazzy console gamers or a fun game for casual gamers :/

I have the same opinion.
Probably even for casual girl gamers, since all men in the game are shown as very bad and stupid people, some of them are literally monsters, and only women are good and smart.

Not sure if it would be best game for me, if I hadn't read the books and played W1 and W2 - aka fanboi. Also there are few things I would rate low (choices from preavios games, skill tree, lack of puzzle quests and dialogue outside quests, also I miss quests like Save the Witch? And Walls have ears... )

Are you fuckin kidding?? Combat in the witcher 1 was completely influenced by wow, except it was blander. Acceptable at the time, but thank CDPR for putting that aside. As to witcher 2 combat, there has been HUGE improvements. Meditation as a must to use potions in w2 sure made it important and completely RETARDED since you couldn`t know what to use in specific situations unless you previously died on them. Mostly you were using allaround boosters like swallow and combat/magic enhancers depending on your build all the time. Traps were only useful if placing lures and until a certain point in the game where you got the right skills, there was no way to fight multiple enemies except rolling around like a retard and throwing bombs or praying for signs` critical effects.

The main storyline does suffer from going open world, but I think the details on the sidequests make up for it. Saying this is inferior to previous witcher games makes no sense. It took a different approach and hit it spot on

It's right up there with Planescape: Torment, Xenosaga and some others... but it's not THE best, no.

...it's the best of this decade so far for me, though.

I'm not sure, one of the best games I've played recently, definitely - and best RPG for sure, but that's partially because I usually don't play RPGs.

No, it is not the best.

It's still missing some "quality of life" adjustments to have the impact that Witcher 1 had on me (I was mind-blowned by W1, btw.)

Camera is crap. We were promised zoom option but now it's in some awkward way behind position. The OTS position from W1 was perfect (with possibility to zoom - more or less - this should be easy to implement).
Moving controls are still... off a bit.
There is no FOV setting for PC. Thanks consoles...
Auto-sheathing feature is still killing me - haven't played much, still lvl 4 - and have to reload the game with frustration sometimes.
Some issues with crafting and automated processes.
Camera auto-follow. What is this console feature doing in a PC game is beyond me.

Mainly it's the control taken away from players. Somehow CDPR thought this is a good idea. Well, it's not. NOT being in control in a PC game such as this means getting out of an immersive experience.

Basically it's some little things that distract me and forbid me to call this THE best game ever.

my best games ever are metro 2033 and last light, mass effect trilogy and the wicher trilogy, as soon as i completed those games i replayed them countless times, but now i've completed tw3 and at the moment i don't feel like to start tw3 again, i had the worst possible ending :( and the main story is short, the game is really long doing all side quests, exploring everything, the world is huge and beautiful but a little empty, it takes many hours running to level up, get new skills, explore and discover new places, craft something, anything that keeps it interesting, and you can't use the best witcher gears because of the ridiculous high level requirement.
i'll play it many times more, i'm sure of it, i want to see the other consequences and endings

Same feeling for me. We have to wait for the "Old TW root mod", i guess.

W2 > W3 imo

Mostly due to the fact that W2 was a more focused game in terms of the narrative, the locations to explore, the characters you interact with, the character progression etc. I also prefer W2 gameplay more, I just feel like W3 combat is missing something that W2 had although I find it hard to describe.

All and all I congratulate CDPR for creating such a good open world game, although I would have preferred a more focused experience like W2.

It's in my top ten. It really gave me a deep appreciation of the franchise and it's characters. I never cared all THAT much about Geralt before now. I thought the W2 was fantastic but it didn't leave me eagerly hoping for more Witcher games.

Yes, it is.

Basically it combines what I love most about games - story and exploration - into one game, and does both at higher quality level than any game before it.
As a bonus, I also enjoyed combat and all the other aspects, and as a bonus #2, I am a longtime (16 years) fan of the book saga and both Witcher 2 and 3 blew my mind with how well they captured the books and work as their sequels.

There are some small issues, sure. But they pale compared to magnificence of this masterpiece.

I love games like Fallout 1/2/NV, Gothic 1/2, Vampire Bloodlines, Deus Ex, Mafia, Hitman Blood Money, STALKER CoP...all of these are 10/10 from me.

But Witcher 3 is just even higher.

Yes, the damn game took a very special place in my heart, even with its imperfections (especially story fuck-ups in the third chapter and a horribly written main villain that is a joke compared to the W1 Eredin and the book Eredin of course) after finishing it, it gave me that emptiness that you only get after playing really good games like Red Dead Redemption and MGS4 just to name a few, keep in mind I do not really play RPGs that much so I still have to play Planescape torment and some of the best RPGs from back in the "good old days", but as of yet, it is Number 1 on my list, followed by Medieval 1 total war and Dawn of war 1.

Yes. It's very rare to find a game that combines good gameplay, compelling exploration of a large area, and charming dialog/story presentation in this way. The only game I can really think of that succeeds like TW3 in all areas is Star Control 2. A game that came out over 20 years ago and is still pretty unique.

And I say that while still believing that the game has room for improvement in a number of areas. Perhaps you could say... that the game has the potential to be enhanced.

No.

TW2 has a better more cohesive well written, nuanced and complex story. Games like Dark Souls have better gameplay. While others have better graphics.

It does have great music and lip synching though. Hardly the best game ever made.

Ha, yea, TW3 should have taken a note or two from Darksouls as far as combat and character progression go...
