It doesn't make sense

Playing the Witcher 2 for the first time i decided to install the Full Combat Rebalance Mod rightaway. I'm not sure if it's mod related but there are a lot of things that don't go with what the Witcher wiki says. For example, the armor merchant in act 2 doesn't offer the dragonscale armor, the reward for the Baltimore's nightmare quest is only 250 orens (no sword) and generally sometimes drops which are described in the wiki are simply nowhere to be found.

Right now i'm having a problem in the 1st floor of the Loc Muinne tower, the resonating crystals simply won't activate no matter how many different combinations of Aard and Igni i try. Not even one crystal starts glowing.

Any ideas?

Edit: HERE is the video footage.

Generally, yes, the wiki will NOT match the game if you have FCR. The wiki was written over a period of time by a lot of very dedicated individuals and it reflects the base game, not a third-party mod that only came out a few weeks ago. So yes, it probably is very confusing if you choose to use a mod on your first playthrough.

Regarding the problem in Loc Muinne, I haven't seen any comments on it with reference to the mod, so I'm not sure if that's the cause or not. I'm cross-linking this thread over to the mods section to see if anyone can advise, in one or the other of the two sections.

Thanks for the quick reply! I figured the FCR would solely change the combat system but apparently it really changes the game as a whole, especially concering items. I'm going to upload a video of the problem and edit it in here.

I think there is a problem with the crytals since FCR affects also aard and igni.
Do you have the latest version of the mod? I think I read something in the changelog about this specific quest.

Yes, I actually just installed FCR 1.1 yesterday. I uploaded a video of the problem here.

You may want to uninstall the mod until you're past this point in the game, then reinstall.

I'm going to give it a try. I hope this still gets fixed since it really sucks to be stuck without knowing why. So if someone who has contact to the dev would forward it we would all benefit. Also, the video is now working :)

EDIT: It's getting better and better. Since FCR also changes the attributes of weapons and armor (i.e. lowers it) i now can't even get past these 3 monster because i'm getting one-hitted. My equipment with FCR is pretty good (Dancer etc.) but with the unmodded version i'm just getting destroyed.

FCR is a mod, produced by one person, not part of the official version of the game. If you want to give feedback, there're threads here:

or at the main redkit site here:

Just out of curiosity, why? It seems like you've cheated yourself out of fun twice-over. Once by not experiencing the vanilla game for your first time, and once again by not getting to understand how FCR2 changed things for a second playthrough.

Aside from turning the difficulty down to Easy there's a god-mode mod you can install if you've reached a truly impossible fight. It will probably overwrite some FCR files that you'd have to back-up and then replace when you're done using it.

You can report bugs in thread about FCR for a better chance Flash will see it.

Well, I've heard before that the combat system is a bit fiddly and the overusage of Quen and rolling around is tiring over time. So I decided if there's a semi official mod improving these things it will also improve my general experience.

I just posted some of the things that stood out in that thread, i'm just gonna give the whole thing a little time and maybe get to it again when a new fix is out.

I agree.

That's why I suggest too to play the game for the first time without the FCR2 Mod. It's not so bad, eh :p
Using Quen is always a best choice when you are outnumbered or you are in the early stages of the game AND if you play it in hard mode, or better, in Dark mode. Quen is always useful, but see, there are also other useful Signs you can use in combat, like Igni. :p
Then you can install FCR2 and see what stuff has changed.

Free advice: The first playthrough of TW2 should be without any (major) mods installed. The 'Vanilla Experience' is important to get a feeling for the game as it was designed, and to better appreciate (or disapprove of) certain changes added by user-made content.

More free advice: Before installing any mods, read up on what they actually do.

I am having the same issue, the Resonating Crystals will not activate.

Any possible solutions?

EDIT:

I deactivated FCR in the launcher, tried the resonating crystals again and it worked. Saved it, quit, launched again with FCR activate again. Seems to be fixed so far.

Maybe a bug with related to the Signs?

Anyone else experienced this?
