Can we change his name to Kinley and add a scene where he gets shot by a crossbow ?

I don't care honestly, though Johnny is fine, he's funny and a bit ridiculous character from what I understood.

Gianina (Italian)
Gino, (Italian)
Giovanni, Gianni (Italian)

If he gets called Gianni I'll be happy for the rest of my gaming life

Don't really care. If I were to call him something else though, I think Ivan would fit him.

I like it, it's memorable, partly because it's something you don't expect from a rare mythical creature. He might've ended up quite forgettable if he had a "generic" sounding fantasy name.

And it's meant to stand out as something you wouldn't expect, just look at Geralt's face when Dijkstra mentions him and has to follow up with "Don't laugh!"

Seems like a few folks don't like the godlings name, if you got better ideas.. post'em here I guess.

Johnny is such a great name choice for a godling, such a wonderful play on expectations.
Don't you change a syllable Reds.

I also figure that
Johnny is in fact a tongue in cheek reference to executive producer John Mamais. Both him and the godling enjoy spending the afternoons amidst a cloud of psychotropic smoke. These hallucinogenic experiences yield priceless visionary insights into team management, scheduling and production tracking. At least that's what Mamais tells Konrad before locking himself up in the loo.

I think Johnny is a wonderfully inappropriate name for a pygmy swamp god.

I don't see why this is a problem suddenly. The entire world of Witcher uses things from around the world, where did this notion that it only contains 'slavic' things appear from?
Characters talk in concepts and words that are modern, not something you'd expect in the 13th century and no one bats an eye. THE MAIN CHARACTER'S NAME IS GERALT which is basically Gerald(germanic). The Witcher 1 is full of non-slavic names. Leuvaarden for example, sounds pretty Dutch to me. And then of course there's the Elder Speech which is broken Welsh.

I don't think anyone said it's only slavic stuff. However, Johnny is based on slavic folklore, so for him a more slavic name is appropriate.

With everything this game encompasses and all of the likes, dislikes, wants, needs, expectations and everything in between, the Godling being named Johnny is the epitome of a non-issue IMO.

*edit* I would also add as other have said - It caught me off guard after seeing him for the first time, It is a great play on expectations. Dijkstra even remarks on his name when he tells Geralt not to laugh " I swear Geralt, that's the lil squirts name, he lives in a wee hollow in the side of a hill....NO. his name is not Bilbo!".

It is an odd choice but then again I think that is why I like it so much. It's going against the grain when considering what most fantasy themed books, movies and games would more than likely name him.

I didn't mean to dismiss any opinions or come off rudely towards the OP. If I did, sorry about that. We are all entitled to what we like/dislike :)

I think no matter what they decided to name him, he still would of stood out to me as a memorable character. If what we have seen so far is anything sufficient to go by. Loved his facial expressions, creepy owl eyes and face palming Geralt lol. Whispers floating around have said he is quite a talkative chap who loves pooing shhhhh he might hear me.

Somebody should make a stereotypical epic RPG and give everyone just normal modern names. Mark the dwarven blacksmith, Henry the elven sage, Jessica the town witch, Michael the butcher, Steve the halfling merchant, and so on. You know, just to piss everyone off.

The Witcher is full of anachronisms. Triss talks about genetics and there is talk about guerrilla. Johnny should be the least of your concerns.

Whatever. Look: if people don't like it, they don't like it. Dropping in to say "Discussing this is a waste of time" isn't going to change their minds.
