On the Reddit forums, there's a bunch of commentary on the fact that the Arasaka Hit Squad should kill you and not be scared of you. They really think you're some kind of really important somebody who needs to be silenced when...you're not. I actually liked it when a later sidegig has V goes, "You realize Abernathy doesn't even know my name, right?"
Technically, you kind of are. Abernathy is director of spec ops, Jenkins is second to her and you're Jenkins main agent. They weren't scared of V at Lizzie's, they were scared of the fact no one in that place is in favour of them. Jackie is well known there, so if he starts shooting it's more than likely the Mox would join is as well as any other deadbeat who's in the bar at the moment. In Watson, they're a fare away from home.
If you look into Vs information regarding Arasaka you can see they're V is a very effective agent, albeit 'difficult to control' - they've succeeded in multiple missions and at there a) on the field and b) alone. In reality, V should have been able to take out such agents but only if they had the element of surprise. In this case, the agents who came to get V to work directly for Abernathy so they're in the same line of work. And instead of sending one guy to take V out, they sent 4-5. That's impressive. I think their information also said that V has been an agent for 2 years and has already worked their way up pretty high, they've been all across the world on missions for Arasaka. Paris, Japan etc. Makes me wonder how on earth they rose up so fast unless A) they were a skilled solo beforehand - thus knowing Jackie. B) Corpo V came from a rich family and had the highest education and training provided, and somehow met Jackie while being a little rebel. IDK
As for Abernathy, she's not going to know your name. Agent V is just called that. Agent V. She more than likely knows V from their employee number than their name - these kind of people are better with number memorisation than names, it makes their people feel more dispensable.
Besides, we all knew what was going to happen - there are two people discussing what happened with the European space council who literally say 'anyone who knows the truth won't know for long.' This still makes zero sense on why Arasaka didn't come after you later on. Did Abernathy not care that they let him go? Or was she honestly just not interested in V since he was taking orders.
Exactly. Why would Arasaka give a certain character a memorial in the Columbarium when this character tried to kill a higher up? Weird...
Honestly thought there was a missing quest here, where V was contacted by Abernathy to Kill Jenkins not knowing who V actually was - or does know and thus the mission. Kind of a quest only available for Corpo's like Mass Effect did for your own life path history. Anyway, just straight-up thought it'd be a mission where you would kill Jenkins or kill Abernathy deciding your choice. But seems like that didn't happen or was just cut like so much other content.
