But she is hanging out at her apartment....

Okay, I wasn't romancing her cuz she clearly had a boner for Evelyn, but she was a dope friend. I thought she would join my crew and by homie, but she leaves and breaks my heart. Why ya gotta go fwwwiend? So there I am all sad, and so I decide to stop by her place. SHE IS RIGHT THERE!! YAY!

I talk to her and she is like 'this is good time to chat. i'm on the road right now.'. No you ain't.

So all those feels shattered. Either don't have her at her apartment, after she gives you the place, or have her return at some point and be my bestie!! Who am I supposed to call in the middle of the night when Panam won't go out with me because I don't have that dialog option!?!?! WHO!?!?!

Man, it's just a cry from the heart, I totally understand you. Another proof that the interactive system with characters should be improved and more detailed. This whole situation with the characters you can be friends with / have a relationship with is so sad and frustrating when you finish their quest chain

Everything in the game is very weirdly done.. i think that there was more to every character and they just cut it... It feels like the whole story was changed and some reused and things got cut off just to make some little sense and we got this.. Like the corpo path.. It doesnt make sense... Abernathy should have sent assassins after you... theey are just gone.. and you actually rob arasaka and she should have contacted you or sent you a halloo with a gun lol... the whole corpo path doesnt make any sense with this story.... i like the game but every few minutes i was like noo.. this is noo..

Corpo doesn't even react to a certain someone being 'dead' later on in the game.

Notably, you do get to do a Side Gig where your old friend from Arasaka talks to you.

You can say, "Abenathy has no idea who the hell I am."

Exactly. Why would Arasaka give a certain character a memorial in the Columbarium when this character tried to kill a higher up? Weird...

lmao

That reminds me of a skit I saw on YouTube.

I bet Arasaka employees have to deal with stuff like this, lol.

On the Reddit forums, there's a bunch of commentary on the fact that the Arasaka Hit Squad should kill you and not be scared of you. They really think you're some kind of really important somebody who needs to be silenced when...you're not. I actually liked it when a later sidegig has V goes, "You realize Abernathy doesn't even know my name, right?"

Technically, you kind of are. Abernathy is director of spec ops, Jenkins is second to her and you're Jenkins main agent. They weren't scared of V at Lizzie's, they were scared of the fact no one in that place is in favour of them. Jackie is well known there, so if he starts shooting it's more than likely the Mox would join is as well as any other deadbeat who's in the bar at the moment. In Watson, they're a fare away from home.

If you look into Vs information regarding Arasaka you can see they're V is a very effective agent, albeit 'difficult to control' - they've succeeded in multiple missions and at there a) on the field and b) alone. In reality, V should have been able to take out such agents but only if they had the element of surprise. In this case, the agents who came to get V to work directly for Abernathy so they're in the same line of work. And instead of sending one guy to take V out, they sent 4-5. That's impressive. I think their information also said that V has been an agent for 2 years and has already worked their way up pretty high, they've been all across the world on missions for Arasaka. Paris, Japan etc. Makes me wonder how on earth they rose up so fast unless A) they were a skilled solo beforehand - thus knowing Jackie. B) Corpo V came from a rich family and had the highest education and training provided, and somehow met Jackie while being a little rebel. IDK

As for Abernathy, she's not going to know your name. Agent V is just called that. Agent V. She more than likely knows V from their employee number than their name - these kind of people are better with number memorisation than names, it makes their people feel more dispensable.

Besides, we all knew what was going to happen - there are two people discussing what happened with the European space council who literally say 'anyone who knows the truth won't know for long.' This still makes zero sense on why Arasaka didn't come after you later on. Did Abernathy not care that they let him go? Or was she honestly just not interested in V since he was taking orders.

Honestly thought there was a missing quest here, where V was contacted by Abernathy to Kill Jenkins not knowing who V actually was - or does know and thus the mission. Kind of a quest only available for Corpo's like Mass Effect did for your own life path history. Anyway, just straight-up thought it'd be a mission where you would kill Jenkins or kill Abernathy deciding your choice. But seems like that didn't happen or was just cut like so much other content.

You hit the nail on the head. One of the reasons V rose to the top so fast is because he/she is not only skilled in espionage, but V has the favor of Jenkins for reasons unknown. If V says to Jenkins, "If anyone finds out we even talked about this [killing Abernathy], I'll go down with you." Jenkins says, "That's true. But everyone knows you only made it to where you are thanks to me. So it's not like they could ever believe you played no part in it." It's possible that Jenkins sees V as his child (not biologically) to him since the game makes it a point to say he has no children. Stand in front of the antechamber in front of Jenkins' office while being scanned, and the top scrolling marquee says: "Interlocutor notes: Arthur Jenkins, Age: 43, No children, Dislikes sports, Favorite drink: Bourbon Whiskey." Either he was a romance option, or Jenkins and V have a father/child or mentor/mentee relationship; and that might be why V rose to the top so fast.

I'm thinking it's probably cut content. The trailers made Jenkins out to be like he's some sort of Mafia/Michael Corleone type of character that would play a big part if you chose Corpo as your background. Also, someone on another post said Abernathy was a romance option; if this is true, it sounds like CDProjekt ran out of time and tried to tie up loose ends by killing off characters. I'm also thinking Evelyn Parker had a bigger role, but got offed due to lack of time. It just seems like there were supposed to be more dialogue and branching options; I remember a dev saying how Meredith Stout was supposed to be very difficult to romance, which gave me the impression that she gave you many side missions to complete (albeit questionable side missions); and then upon completion, you could romance her. However, in the final game, you do the flathead mission, side with her, and then you have a fling. Sounds like cut content due to lack of time. Just a guess, however.
