Just a information poll, Things I need to know about 1.11 patch

Alright, starting off, since this is in the Xbox One support I do not need to mention that this applies to XB1.

So I created this poll to find out the general consensus of the new 1.11 patch we received. At 5 a.m. (East coast US time), I was informed of a 1785 mb download for TW3. I accepted and have been playing it since. Now, I had already started a fresh game a couple of days ago & I am currently lvl 11.

So, after you answer the poll question, please feel free to leave a comment below, if you so wish. Please keep the comments civil, there is no need to make this a complaint thread. If you are having performance, missing items, bugged quests. Leave a comment on what type of issue you have, but be sure to follow up by doing a support ticket if you have not done so yet.

Again, I just want to get your input to see if it is safe to start a NG+

Thank you for your time & input

P.S. It is a multiple choice

I voted "chopiness in Novigrad", but frankly... I can manage. In fact, I'm playing HoS now and enjoing every bit of it. I sure hope Novigrad frame rate will be fixed in the next patch though.

Ah, there is one more thing 1.10 brought and 1.11 inherited that I absolutely hate. It's this fucking blur that kicks in after you have ended a conversation or closed a merchant menu. It's like someone sprayed some water in Geralts eyes and the blur doesn't dissipate for a good couple of seconds. I don't know who thoought it'd be a good idea.

Thank you both for your input. As for the blurriness @iCake, it's a lot better than it was in 1.08. The blurriness stayed for a long time, at least for me it did it.

So now what problem I am seeing Vivaldi is missing. His icon is on the maps, but he is not. Been like this since I did the 1.11 install. I thought he would eventually show up, but nope, still AWOL. I'm sure by the time I get to the HoS storyline, he will appear.....or I'll have a system crash, lol.

Has any other XB1 user going through some long loading screen time after Fast Travel? For me it takes a good 3-5 minutes. Wish I could defrag my external hard drive, I'm sure it's a mess. Microsoft needs to invent a defrag app for the XB1

It seems to be variable: sometimes it's really quick, and other times I start to suspect I've hit an infinite loading screen glitch. It's not just fast travel, either -- any time there's any sort of loading, times vary between "much quicker than they seemed on the PS4" to "I'll give it another 30 seconds, then force quit and start again"...

I keep doing a hard reset after about 5-6 straight hours of game play. Doesn't seem to make a difference. And then that leads me back to wanting to defrag the external hard drive. Just like a computer, it needs to be done at least bi-monthly when it comes to games always auto-saving, manual save, patches. There has to be a way of doing it. Like the old saying goes "If you think of it, more & likely someone has already came up with that idea or it's out there in the world somewhere"

Um, I don't think you quite understand what I wanted to say in that post. I wasn't talking about the loading blur, which indeed became a constant nuisance in 1.08 and gotten a hell less frequent since 1.10. I was talking about a different kind of blur:surprised:

Now this one needs to be explained a little bit better than the last time around. This blur looks like an unfocused lens effect, a lens blur if you will. It happens everytime some sort of interaction with NPCs has been concluded. Like right when you get back control of Geralt after a cinematic cut-scene or right after you you said goodbye to a shop owner.

This lens blur doesn't stop you from moving around, like a loading blur does, instead everything around you looks washed out, blurry for a couple seconds. I don't know, it's like Geralt just woke up after a long nap or something.

It's just been my best effort to explain that right there... Please, tell me I managed to get the point across:worried:

As for the loading times on my X1... Yes, it's become much longer since 1.10. Granted it wasn't very swift prior to that, the things just got way worse than before.

I actually gaged the loading time when I was fighting Imrelith several months ago. It was around a minute back then. Now it's at least a minute and a half... So 50% increase is certainly not welcomed.

Actually, we are talking about the same thing. There were a lot of complaints about what you said above after patch 1.08. The blurriness after getting out of Witcher Sense stayed blurry after 1.08 (fixed in 1.11) was also a complaint. Don't know if you experienced that one. I know that I did & it drove me bonkers. So this blurriness after vendor/NPCs interaction that is going on now is better than it was before. Even though after this update, I thought my eyes were going out on me. I'm 44 with perfect vision according to last check up 6 months ago.

So, yes, you explained it well.

Huh, the lens blur never affected me on 1.08, that one with Witcher Sense in particular. On the conrary, the loading blur just drove me nuts, I couldn't play for more than a minute without seeing at least one of those. So maybe this is why we (or just I) got a little bit confused.

I'm with you on the loading blur. It seems a little better now. It used to do it during cut scenes of conversations, like right in the middle of the conversation. But the black loading screen is by far the worst it's ever been. Last night my Xbox locked up during a black load screen, had to do a hard reset.

Come to think of it, maybe I did experience this "afterblur" when coming out of Witcher Sense. I just think I would have not paid it much attention, as it would seem perfectly natural to me to have this effect. You've been straining all your senses for a few moments, no wonder everything around you seems blurry now, as you've returned to your normal and not so keen senses now.

Hmm, I've yet to see any lock ups or infinite loading screens on 1.11, haven't had anything like that on 1.10 as well. The only things to complain about is the loading times of 1:30 as I mentioned earlier and a lot of things seem unresponsive now. Like the map takes a hell lot longer to load up, there is a slight delay in between choosing a response in a conversation and seeing that response to actually play, but that's been a problem since 1.07 I think. There is also a delay between choosing a fast travel sign on the map and when the loading screen actually pops in. As well as some other minor occurences too numerable or inconsistant to talk about.

Btw, I did a clean install with 1.10, maybe this has helped things a bit. But I own a digital version, so all I needed to do is to redownload the game files again. But you seem to have a disk version of the game, so that might not help you much, as you'll need to reinstall the game from the disk and then update it.

My pre-order expansion of HoS was not showing up on my console on release day, was told by Xbox Live chat with a tech to uninstall everything from TW3 with other steps including removing my account on the console before hard reset. So I too have a clean install of 1.10.

My thoughts still keep going back to my external hard drive. Still thinking that it needs a defrag performed, if it can be done. I think that's what some to most of my delays are. Hmmmm....I wonder if moving everything of TW3 to internal hard drive will make a difference? I might do that & see.

"Enchanting: Quality Has Its Price" is still bugged. The Pickaxe still can not be taken with my actual savegame.
"From Ofier's Distant Shores" is still bugged. The first chest still contains the wrong loot. No scheme, no letter, just some other stuff. Also with my actual savegame.

Restarting HoS with an old savegame, both quests went through without any issues. But that is not an option for me.

Is this happening in NG+ or normal game?

I'm still in normal game.

Okay, thank you. I have not gotten to HoS quests yet. Though while it was 1.10, I didn't have those problems you mentioned. Only problem I had was the key to the tomb behind the church wouldn't work, more to say there was no "action" to the door. All that was happening to me & others was the candles to each side of the door would ignite or extinguish.

I think my problem was starting HoS with the defected download of the expansion at release day. One day later CDPR published the corrected version of HoS via XBL. At this time I already had finished the sidequest "Rose on a Red Field". During this sidequest you can encounter one of the bandit camps and discover the chest that is necessary for the "From Ofier's Distant Shores" quest. At this time I didn't know anything about the existence of the "From Ofier's Distant Shores" quest, so I looted the chest. Maybe this broke the quest.

*A quick side note: I stopped playing the game some months ago, due to some tedious bugs/glitches. Figured they would eventually get patched, and I could continue once the new expansion came out. In short, I don't remember the last patch I had played on, and failed to check before updating and downloading the DLC, yesterday.*

Since installing HoS, and patch 1.11, I haven't been back to Novigrad yet. Unsure if I will still have choppiness, which I previously did. I have also not confirmed whether or not some quests are still bugged (that were bugged, when I last played a few months back).

What I can report, are two experiences so far. One, the "blur" effect after cutscenes (which I would get on occasion, and most notably in Novigrad, prior to this current patch). This occurs with regularity (so far). And two, there is a brief but noticeable freeze or lag, when maneuvering in the menus. It happens every time. This is probably the most distracting new glitch/hiccup, based on how much time I spend in the menus (i.e. inventory, quest log, map, bestiary, etc...). Considering how long load times are between startup, save loads, and traveling, this just adds to what I deem "downtime" or the waiting game.

BTW, I have yet to start the actual expansion, but I do look forward to it. Will add further comments - if warranted - should I experience other/new issues.

Cheers!
