Just finish killing the first boss! Balanced and well rewarding fight. your thoughts?

Hi.
I picked up the game yesterday and started playing right away. When i reach the Griffin fight i was surprised over how easy the game have been so far, (except that stupid wraith at well of power that i can't kill) but after facing the griffin i was satisfied. I died like 3 times in the first phase and like 5 times at the second phase. The fight felt well balanced and when i died it was because i was rushing the griffin and not taking my time. just spamming the button :)
must say the battle was fun as hell!
ps. I play on "hard setting" (3rd setting)

what are your thoughts about the griffin fight? too easy, hard?

I'm playing on normal difficulty and thought it was just right. I died none during the first phase, and died I think 3 or 4 times during the second phase. I thought the enemy AI was actually quite intelligent as his methods of attack, while remaining the same in the overall scope, were varied enough that you had to be on your toes constantly to stay one step ahead of him. You got attacked from both the air and the ground, and you never really knew when he was going to swoop down for you.

Good to hear. The fighting is really good. I think it is because u get punished hard when u fail dodge or parry. That Royal Griffin hits really hard!
I hope that before the next big fight that i have something more useful than that thunder-potion. it felt so useless to just increase your stamina regeneration..
needs some bombs to bang bang pow on next boss! :p

It was relatively easy for me, but then I only did it once I had completed everything else in the region, so I leveled quite a bit and had found a couple formulas for potions and bombs. With the right preparation, it was rewardingly easy. Threw 3 different kinds of bombs at it, kept dodging and using quen and only attacked it when it was distracted with vesemir. I expect its quite alot harder when you go in "guns blazing". ^^

Playing on second hardest btw.

I didn't even use the thunderbolt. I like my signs, so tawny owl is a must, and doing a big fight without swallow is unwise. I feel like the two potion slots are really restricting..
otherwise I actually found him a bit easy. I didn't die once (though I came close to it). but it was still rewarding/fun. (I was on his level, on 3rd difficulty.)

the real boss of the area is the wraith in the cemetery. killing her was really satisfying (after getting my ass kicked numerous times).

I like the two potion slot restriction it keeps the game more balanced and forces you to think which will be of better use for each battle. Nice boss fight I really enjoyed it, the game is awesome so far.

I've restarted and just finished White Orchard for the second time... Found the Griffon 'hard' but not a significant threat.

Had foods up rather than swallow (you get more 'goes'), and Tawny Owl. This time around I didn't get Thunderbolt... Shrugs...

Igni (or Aard) brings him down during his flying attacks, and then attacking him from behind deals significant additional damage. Had much better swords than the starting ones, which helped, as well as 5 points in fast attack "Muscle Memory". First part I lost around a quarter health from a single fluffed dodge... the second I took around a 10% hit from one of the less effective minor attacks. Poor old Vesemir hadn't even arrived before the Griffon was dead in the second sequence ;)

Very minor mistakes cost lots of health though and there is one combo he does that stun-locks you and permits 2-3 hits before you can evade again.
Bring him down, a few swipes with the sword, double tap to evade. Rinse and repeat... though each attack has it's own rhythm, so it still isn't repetitive.... being greedy gets you hurt... a lot.
