I literally just now ordered The Last Wish and Blood Elves from Amazon. They will be here Tuesday and I will let you all know what I think.

It would be good that you read the "The Sword of Destiny" before you read "Blood of Elves".

The thing that i liked most of the ending is how simple the story is, i mean usually you expect some cold blooded assasin, or someone with a "higher" pourpose, but you know, when i was speaking to the assasin, i had the strange feeling of "small things take us to graet achievements", the thruth behind the assasination of kings is simple, and the motives are purely selfish, (i mean, the killer is not trying to change the world for better, nor he is driven by political intentions) no, he want just one thing, but a thing that is close to his heart, i really think, this one of the best game's history i've ever seen

Tried to go for the 2nd play through on Dark Mode, I couldn't kill the 2nd Endrega! I'll probably lower the difficulty next time. Too bad I wouldn't be able to see the new armors, that's the only reason I wanted to go Dark Mode.

I'm playing on the 360, so I don't think Dark Mode even exists on it... but it sounds intense. Pretty sure my laptop wouldn't even be able to open the main menu on the Witcher 2.

Bombs, bombs, and more bombs. Just blow their arses to high heaven. Upgrade Quen and Aard as soon as possible. Craft the first dark set using money earned through arm-wrestling, poker and boxing. With a dark set equipped the game becomes easier then on Normal. The hardest fight in Ch. 1 is with Kayran, and only because he can one-shot you. I had to replay it 5 times before I nailed his ass. I had to replay fight with Letho only once, and it was pretty easy - just roll out of range of his attacks, and hit him when his Quen is down.

I am playing on xbox 360, dark mode is there, and there is an achievement for it.

I am not a big fan of using bombs all the time because they're expensive to make, especially the incendiary ones which require Scleroderm, a relatively less abundant plant in my experience (or maybe I have bad eyesight, lol).

The best strategy for Dark Mode is being aware of enemy locations and attack timings, and being able to dodge or counter as needed. You will die many times at the lower levels, but don't get discouraged and think of what went wrong each time you died.

Here's something I learned from Rurouni Kenshin when I was 10: when you're faced with many opponents at once, run into a narrow space so they're forced to confront you one at a time. Alternatively, you can just run away :p

Also, since many enemies in this game have a boundary to which they chase you, it's possible to turn back around and get them in the back.

It's best to figure out your fight situation at the lower levels so that you're only facing a single opponent at a given time.

Zerricanian Sun is made out of very common components. After I bought a formula from Cedric, I could make like 70 of them, so I constantly used them to get out of tight spots. I wouldn't have survived a battle for Melitele's heart without bombs, these waves of wraiths were ridiculously difficult for me. Also I killed both endrega queens and the arachas with a combination of Aard, bombs, and a silver sword. It took about 5-7 bombs for each one. The rest of chapter 1 was easy, and further chapters became progressively easier as well.

Nice strategy, I agree. I will have to try it myself.

For the Melitele and Queen Endgrega battles, I laid out 25 snare traps (haha), around Anezka and Geralt, and around the areas that the Endrega Queens materialize and chase Geralt, respectively (I would set Geralt as bait so the Queens would come for him and get wounded). This way I conserved ingredients for potions and oils.

I also used Axii on one of the three wraiths (they appear in threes), and then handled the remaining one myself.

So yeah, many ways to get creative. Games with nonlinear combat are just the bee's knees, I tell you.

Zerkanian sun and Grapeshot are pretty cheap to make actually. Dancing star is one of the most effective bombs in the game and very much worth it.

From what I remember, there was at least one ingredient in Grapeshots which I felt was rare.

Edit: Bryonia.

I'm pretty sure it exists, but you can't change to Dark Mode mid-game, you have to select it with a new game. So next time :)

TBH I just keep finding more and more items. My current challenge is gathering all the dark sets and never using Igni. Amazing variations you can do in the game.

I recently finished my 3-rd playthrough of Witcher 2 on Dark Mode this one! It was very hard setting for me, and I'll almost quit when I was in Flotsam, cause those monsters were killing me insane.. But in the end, manage to pass that, and after some leveling of Geralt and using bombs&alchemy, game become little easier, but still very demending!

In this mod, I go with Iorveth side, and see things from their side, but still this game is amazing, and I still didn't see some things in the game what I saw in some trailers, so I guess I will need to pass it once more, and then choose some diferent path during that ;)

What can I say in the end? This is best game in last decade! Storyline, settings, turnovers, characters, combat.. This game has everything.. Although Skyrim has some great things too, W2 deserved every award that year!

One note in the end.. Did someone aquire that Kinslayer outfit in the end? I manage to have Blasphemer's and Oathbreaker's outfit, but I just didn't have enough money for Kinslayer armor neither craft materials cause I was almost broke when I come to Loc Muine, and I just didn't have time to play dice for ten days to get some orens..

Strange... I've done the same but with ... traps. I spent no gold for them but time (sorry, I am too Catalan for part with a single cent :p/> ) , collecting everyone I found and let the ground upholstered by them... oh well, my Geralt hasn't any watch controling his time fight....

I am too lazy to set traps ;)/> And by some reason I always step on them myself, there was not a single trap in a whole game I didn't get caught in. :p I did not use potions for every fight, only for predictable ones, because it did not look right, I wouldn't want Geralt to be clairvoyant just because I finished the game many times before and know every stone. Bombs is a cheap and dirty way to get through, and they are fun. AK47 with unlimited ammo would be also nice to have though... ;)/>

I bought the game when it first came out because I really liked the first one. However I quit playing it because the QTEs were so difficult to complete with a pc mouse and that took all the fun out of the game for me. I re-loaded the game a couple of weeks ago out of " between new game release " boredom, got some help from Tommy for the QTEs, and now I'm really having fun ! I'm almost finished with ch 1 and can't wait to complete this in time for Witcher 3 !

Did you feed your mouse? I'm saying that because your mouse could be careless and it is angry with you... or my index finger is glued on the letft button... />/>/>

OK, OK, the first time I've met QTE I used to do that:

The Zerrikanian Sun advice was superb, I used it with Yrden and after a couple of struggles I finnaly beat that Endrega Queen! Not enough money for the Dark Set yet though.. Thanks for the heads up!
