Kaer Morhan is very crashy

I have the problem that I get a lot of crashes in Kaer Morhan. The screen turns black telling me the video signal is lost, but I can hear that Windows reboots. However, the screen is still black and I have to shut down the system blindly (if it works) or by power button. While I have very few crashes here and there, I've never seen this kind of major crash except for Kaer Morhan. It seems to occur with ultra settings only. With medium settings it seems to work. I already had this in Kaer Morhan with 1.02: everytime I entered the balkony in the very first room, it crashes. Now im back at Kaer Morhan and it still crashes. Especially, but not only, after cut scenes during
the Battle of Kar Morhan

too many possibilities to shake a stick at:

the crash after conversation is usually due to corrupt game assets. can be avoided by pressing space real fast to skip convo.

A. gpu is superclocked.
B. ps/u wattage seems fine, but may be defective anyways.
C. some 970 driver issue.
D. corrupt game assets/dlc/patch
E. bad ram or bad sectors.
F. conflicting software, overlays, gpu utilities.

however, your reboot situation is very puzzling.

have you tried unplugging the monitor and back in?

btw, you don't need a blind shutdown, you can just tap the pwr button. there's a windows power setting which controls that behaviour.
