For anyone who does this for me....I didn't drink the mongoose potion. :/ But I never did have an issue with the poison.

You uploaded the wrong save. As memory serves, the autosave you're looking for should be the highest number, or you could just make a quicksave. You're only able to have one quicksave at a time, so finding it would probably be easier. The one you posted is at the very beginning of the game, though.

You need to keep clicking until the the bar fills completely and disappears and hopefully before Geralt falls off . also note that if you`re using difficult QTE`s you will need to tap the spacebar when given the cue . If you`re playing with a computer that`s close to minimum specs you may need to lower the screen resolution temporarily .

Thanks a lot guys and I apologize for being that angry yesterday ... but I can't stand games where you - at least from my point of view - have no realistic chance to pass a quest. I mean in a good game there should be always also a possibility for novice players as it is e.g. in "the black eye" where you can reduce the difficulty level.

i completely concur with your displeasure. if it wasn't for forums, many games would be impossible for the average user (dead space 2 leaps to mind). normal settings should be normal and although easy can still be tough in situations like the kayran, it presents no challenge otherwise. i'm still trying to beat the beast on easy and any exhilaration i may feel IF the thing is slain, will be from relief not triumph. here we go again....

All the difficulty you're meeting in killing the kayran is not due to the mode. In fact, normal is even to easy imo. The difficulty in that fight is because of QtEs.

I'm no hardcore player, believe me, but I could finally manage to defeat him after the 3rd try. In normal. Just with a:
-Maribor forest potion
-a tawny owl
-abuse of Quen

If you use the kayran trap it's even easier, coz the trap make blow up two tentacles and thus shortens your work a lot.

Eventually it's just a giant octopus

Hello everyone

I experience the same problem with defeating Kayran. Even though I manage to cut the tentacles off I always fall down during QTE challenge no matter how intensively I keep clicking. Even if the bar seems to be successfully filled Geralt still falls down. I don't know whether I am doing something wrong or I am simply too slow but I am desperately stuck. I have spent several hours of futile attempts and nothing seems to help.

Would anyone be willing to help me? I have uploaded my saved files and I would be very grateful if anyone could download it, kill the beast and than upload it somewhere so I can continue playing. I really enjoy playing Witcher 2 I would hate quiting the game because of one combat.

I am playing with patch 2.0 and Czech version. (sorry for my bad English - I am from the Czech Republic)

For what it is worth, I have found that pressing the right mouse button twice will skip the cut scenes. Very useful if you want to keep trying. Note that if you get defeated (which is extremely likely), you have to press the right mouse button again to be able to select the Yes or No buttons.

It was easy, I haven't tried it in Dark Mode
but it is hard difficulty, and I finish it under 5mins.

I am having the same problem with the Kayran. I keep casting the Yrden but 99 times out of 100 it does not even seem to work.
I did manage to hack off three tentacles and the building was knocked down and as I ran up it the remaining tentacles got me and killed me.
So I tried over and over and now I can only manage one tentacle. The stupid Yrden does not even seem to work.
Once the game crashed somehow and for about three minutes was frozen then suddenly it started up again.

I wonder if it also has something to do with the framerate that my Yrden does not seem to work.

I do not understand about the advice of getting somebody's save games, I went to the site and don't know what to make of it. I also put game on easy.

Heck, I was so enjoying the game but it looks like lights out for me now. How stupid to make a game that a lot of people need to give up on eventually because they put a too hard mob right in the beginning. Very discouraging.
I mean 'easy' should be easy. If people want to play it hard they can chose those options. So I don't see the point of making a game so hard that even a lot of people on 'easy' cannot manage it.

If you're casting Yrden and it doesn't work, there are two possible reasons. One is that you don't have enough vigor when you cast it. The second is that there's some problem on your PC that's stopping it from registering. You mention having a low framerate, so if you think there's a problem with the PC settings, post your specs in the Tech Support section and see if someone can help you improve on it.

If you just want to get past this point and get on with the game, post a savegame to some site that hosts files, such as mediafire, and post a link here. Someone will almost certainly be happy to play it past this point and post the savegame back so that you can continue.

If there is frame rate problem, then it is related to your PC, not about the game.
if you can't defeat the kayran, you are just not using the viable method.
There are many methods to kill in witcher 2, but some are not viable.
I haven't did any good in other action game, but I finish Hard Kayran in about 3 mins, even hard, it is too easy.
You just need to learn and try, or a better computer will help. A necessary difficulty makes the game fun.
