Keeping steam savegames for TW3

I have just finished the Witcher 2 and would like to keep my savegame so I can use it for playing the Witcher 3.

So I went to E:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\user\20920\remote for copying the savegame but there are actually a lot of savegames and I am not sure if I should just copy the newest one.
I am pretty sure I will play the Witcher 2 again and also want to keep the other savegames to use them in TW3.
Can you help me, please?

The most likely save will be the autosave that happens AFTER the final encounter, which should be the autosave with the last Date Modified. Check the timestamps on the save, and check against the load screens from the game, it should be the same.

The save file will have the suffix .sav. There's also an image file with the suffix .bmp. You can keep that as well if you want - it probably isn't necessary, but no reason to take the risk.

If you want to keep other variations, copy the files into another folder. You can also zip them after that if you want, to save space.

If the date/time stamps don't match, it could be because you've switched between Steam Cloud and local saves sometime. Check this thread for how to save locally if so.

(I'm not 100% sure it's still accurate, as Steam do keep changing stuff.)

Thank you for you response and the link. I now know what my problem was: As the files have been sorted by name and not by date, I have thought that my last autosave has happened an hour before my last quicksave... this has confused me.
Thank you :) Now I can keep my autosave, play TW2 again and try the savegames as soon as TW3 will be released.
