Maybe best way to deal with this rude silence from "devs" is to reach popular reviewers, gaming articles and selling platforms and warn them about this so they can put notice WARNING! NO KEYBINDING CUSTOMIZATION.....NOT FOR L/H PLAYERS

This wouldn't be an issue if say Shroud or XQC wanted to rebind half the keys and favored toggle ADS to hold. Proof is in the pudding when they made a "streamer friendly" toggle to the game to get rid of nude scenes and so they don't get DMCA striked on streams/videos. If you can actively give the game/devs bad press because you have a big audience then you'll most likely get your demands.

I understand what saying but please don't say there are usable workarounds when there are 11 pages of us saying it's completely unusable. Especially a few of us with disabilities. We know it's hardcoded and that was for a reason, but that reason is causing left handed and many a disabled player to miss out. It's a load of keys. I found basically 50% of my must use keys aren't usable. Gamepads are expensive if don't own and aren't the most accessible. I can't use without dislocating my fingers for example. It may be fixable for you, but your reply proves you miss the whole aspect of accessible... paying a further £50 for a controller, or just not playing because disabled is a issue that is insurmountable to many that if CDPR actually gave us custom controls like their other games we wouldn't need to complain.

If it's no surprise from devs, why was none of this publicized? it was actively hidden even it seems with how many embargos there was. They have taken our money in return for a broken game, people are rightfully pissed. I appreciate you probably have CDPR messaging saying to calm us down possibly even to shut down convo but ultimately we want info from CDPR, we want them to take responsibility, and promise us this is being addressed and anyone who asks for a refund due to this will get one. Until then, we are going to be vocal and trying to get the same access to the game as others.

Right -- there are lots of issues with the game right now. But that's the same with the launch of any massive title. Pick anything throughout the history of gaming. If we want giant, sweeping games like this, there will be bugs.

But, the control thing, while frustrating, is not a total gamebreaker for most players. I empathize completely with players that have physical conditions that make it overwhelmingly challenging to work around, but that's also not really an inherent problem with the game. It's unfortunate that certain people are affected more drastically by certain issues. Such is fate. We can certainly make the issue known, but we can't start banging the table and pointing fingers because we happen to suffer misfortune. (Look at me -- after the Day 0 patch landed -- I couldn't even play at all! My game crashes immediately upon entering or leaving character creation. I can't even get to the tutorial! Man...I wish I could deal with keybind issues...)

So, like I said. Workarounds are there. If they're just not feasible for some people, or if they're not available, then we can simply make it known and patiently wait. I'm pretty sure that improvements will be made to the controls, but maybe not as a #1 priority. It's still the first day!

Even with my own situation, I am 100% sure the issues will be resolved. Patience is magical.

Well, let me join this topic.. Highly disappointed I cannot play this game now as I'm also a left-handed PC gamer who's been using arrow keys since the early 90's and cannot rebind the keys I need in this game to play properly.. Every now&then a game pops up with issues like this, but I didn't expect to see it in this one.. I could go thru all the trouble of trying to fix things manually changing .cfg files etc, but I really don't feel like it right now.. So i'm gonna leave this game alone for now and hope they fix it soon in some patch or whatever.. Big disappointment for sure..

We are happy being patient and waiting, but as said many a time now, we need the devs to promise us that this will be fixed and that we do actually matter to them, because everything so far shows otherwise. If disabled or a leftie you don't matter. That is literally all that is coming from this. I appreciate that may not be your or CDPR views but from reading everything, and the situation that is the only explanation, especially given people of the effected groups are saying as much. You comment about not game breaking, it is. Read how many of us are saying that. Workarounds may exist but it's still crazy. If the game bugs, crashes, yeah that's not good, but at least we can explore the world. Instead I am stuck either on a menu or basically having a character that I can't use, with many other. This topic wouldn't be 12 pages long nor people so frustrated if wasn't a big issue. The fact my posts are getting likes, and the mods trying to justify something that in 2020 isn't justifiable rather than getting us the answers or at least a dev to settle things down. We aren't asking for much, just to be recognized, given the info needed to calm down and wait for a fix, rather than people on a forum who are saying they aren't CDPR but also talking for them. It's a shit situation for all of us, but to move forward that needs recognizing and fixing

It's not a bug nor massive title, it was just massive hype for a totally messed up release!
Sorry but i don't know any other dev studio being so incompetent to release a game with hardcoded basic movement keybidings!
We paid for this product while being almost unplayable for many.
Silence from the devs is rude so maybe we need to be rude too!
This is how garbage developers do their job and communicate with their customers.

I understand the calls from some for patience .. but, the context is this .. the game was in development for 7 years.

7 years.

After reading various other comments in this thread and another thread about a person with quite restricting disabilities where they use multiple controller (some virtual) interfaces and equipment to play other games without issue, I've come to this conclusion.

Cyberpunk 2077 was primarily and specifically developed by and for right-handed fully able-bodied persons .. no inclusive or extra-inclusive considerations regarding player and equipment combinations were made during the 7 years of development.

If they were, this thread would not exist.

Thanks to all who've already noted above; you can remap keys via the UserSettings.json file (in the location specified above as well). Like many; I'm a L handed gamer the locked out arrow (character movement keys) made the game nearly unplayable for me; I was getting my elbow kicked in combat over and over; due to 25 years of muscle memory making me activate the wrong (arrow) keys in combat. Oddly; the game let me remap vehicle movement to the arrow keys with NP?!

MAKE A BACK UP COPY of your UserSettings.json file BEFORE you try editing it!!!!!

I've used MS Notepad to edit the WASD movement keys to my arrow keys, and the jump key to R Shift, sprint to Numberpad 1, and crouch toggle to NP 2.

My game is now playable----so far I've noticed no ill effects by remapping these keys (your experience might be different!).

CDPR was quite responsive and timely, in my opinion, to customer issues with TW3----I'm confident they'll take care of business for us equally well---though it won't be as soon as many of us would like. Be patient, and good luck!

Not only F is locked, but P is also locked.
I use WARS (Colemak) so wanted to map P for Reload, only to get turned down with this very unhelpful error message of "Binding Failed." (gee, thanks)

It's now 2021-ish, still this AAA game fails to support fully customizable keymap.

Since I am a new user I cant start a thread but the control scheme is unacceptable - it must be possible to remap to the arrow keys - this is supposed to be a AAA title and that makes this unaceeptable!!!!

So, I can customize my penis in your game, but not my keybindings? Seriously? This is what you've focused on?

The bigger a company gets, the more out of touch they get with their user base.

Also, if, at any point in your game's development, you come to a meeting and begin discussing things like, "We're going to have to limit what keys can be remapped", then GO BACK TO THE ENGINE / GAME DESIGN TABLE! Figure out what you're doing so wrong that you have to limit options and keep people from playing your game the way that they're comfortable playing!

Look, I know that PC's have hundreds of possible video cards, chipsets, CPUs, RAM amounts, OS build versions... BUT A KEYBOARD?! THERE'S ONLY A COUPLE OF OPTIONS OUT THERE and somehow you've decided you're going to nail-down how a user may interact with your game via a HID device? Seriously?

You know, this had to come up dozens, if not hundreds of times, during QA/Game Testing.

Tester: Hey, I can't remap my keys?
QA: No, sorry, you can't.
Tester: Why?
QA: You just can't.... It's... Complicated....

I guess it's time to request that refund. I'm tired of supporting these half-mutant PC release of AAA titles they're targeting console gamers with above all others.

Let's be clear on the root cause here - Game Developers Are 100% All-In On Console Gamers, and PC Gamers are now a nuisance they have to deal with. Oh, sure, they develop their games on a PC, but they're crafting it 100% with console games in mind, and they figure they'll just drop out some sort of mutant release for non-console users.

This is definitely an easy attitude to adopt; it's certainly how I feel (since it seems like the game was designed with a controller in mind, not KBM). But according to various sources it's breaking sales records for PC games. I think that PC gamers are much less of a "nuisance" than we might like to think given the apparent treatment; it seems that we're responsible for a huge part of their total sales. That doesn't make the state of the game any easier to understand; in fact, it simply makes everything even more bewildering.

Edit: Just did some cursory googling and it looks like roughly 30% of Witcher 3's sales were PC (which is apparently more than normal for a multiplatform game). 30% is much less than 70% but that's still a shit ton of money.
