kickstarter/indiegogo/steamsale/launch keys&co thread

With so many games falling into oblivion in this section it's probably time for a proper gaming thread. Basically a single thread to collect news and talk about games.

For now, I' ll list and link the kickstarter threads people posted around. Because some are very deserving.

I can't blame them. From a pure business pov, there's a lot more room in the casual market.

It's not the first time Square had disastrous release (anyone wants to take a guess how the name "Final fantasy" came into being?), so I'm willing to bet they will be able to get back on their feet.

It is still very bad news. It's just too bad the masses don't take to good quality games.

Tomb raider was a truly awesome game, to bad steam basically gave it away for free and caused the price of all the physical disc's to plummet. Though it's not like you even need to buy it, unfortunately it was one of those games that you could rent for a week and be done with. Now a days if a game doesn't have either 100+ hours gp, exceptional replay value, or great multiplayer people won't buy, they'll borrow, rent, or wait until it's in the discount bin no matter how great it is. Those three thing are soooo important.

Square does have some interesting games coming up though, the long awaited kingdom hearts, and that final fantasy with the teleport sword dude looks intriguing, and I haven't been interested in a final fantasy title since the first 3. Hopefully they don't screw up Deus Ex... Fingers crossed.

We've been positively dry on news for quite a while now, so I figured I'd bring some attention to something I've just learned about:
http://thesurvivor2299.com/
Spooky, huh? Apparently, this domain was just recently registered by the big Beth, confirmed by news sites Gameranx and 8th-Circuit. According to Reddit, the Morse code on the page translates to '12-22-13', or maybe '11-22-13'.
In addition, the .mp3 file can be accessed at http://thesurvivor22...84ec0d1b93c.mp3 which incidentally references the Connecticut city of Bridgeport.
Furthermore:
There is a 'fallout.js' (JavaScript) as a file reference on the page.
The cascading style sheet also references the Monofonto font used in Fallout 3s interface.
A div at the bottom of the page is noted as pointing towards Bethesda Softworks' own YouTube profile.
The domain registrant is ZeniMax Media Inc. The same spelling of the registrant, data, and even contact information are used for the main Bethesda Softworks domain (bethsoft.com).
The alternative IP listed in the site code is listed as owned by ZeniMax Media (199.107.64.171).
Furthermore, it does seem similar to how Fallout 3 was teased.
However, as WorstUsernameEver of NMA points out, the domain resolves to an address in Poland, putting a rather big dent in the credibility of the website. The presence of Polish names for script variables inside the website code also indicates this may very well be a very convincing fake.

Message repeats.

...which according to http://morsecode.scphillips.com/jtranslator.html means: 11.12.13 12.11.13 (Can't remember Morse from memory anymore, had to Google.)

Which obviously is the date 11th December 2013, twice, for both the reverse system (month first) and the logical one (day first), also the date the counter is counting down to. (Didn't notice this was already mentioned in the quote before, sorry.)

There's no sign of a fallout.js though, and I'm not sure the font alone is enough to make the connection to the game. Could be a fake, then?

Hmm. HMMM.

Not that excited about Fallout 4, honestly.

I really liked Fallout 3...until the last 1/4. Bethesda's quests.....I tell you....Skyrim was better, much better, but the world was still so often static.

If Oblivion was doing it. Oh, if only.
