Knew they'd nerf.

GOOD! Now it's time for the god mode alchemy combos.

On another note, yeah Geralt is not supposed to be a mage, but the way the tree is designed, a magic build should definetely be viable(and it is. Actually it's OP). I think the tree desgin should have been different based on the FACT that Geralt is not a mage or an Alchemist. IMO Geralt should start with REALLY WEAK magic, and definetely not 100% mitigation quen, and far WEAKER potions, decoctions, oils, bombs etc.. The trees should be like:
1) Pure swordmanship. By far the highest DPS tree, including new and more impressive melee attack animations, but with very little defenses and utility and relys most on player skill to survive. Also magic really weak as i said before.
2) Magic+swordmanship hybrid tree. Increases swordmanship damage far less than the pure combat tree, but also enhances magic for greater utility, support and defense. But magic even in the end should not be nearly as powerful as now.
3) Alchemy+swordmanship hybrid. Like above, but enhances potions/bombs.oils, decoctions for utility support instead of magic, and again not even close to the OPNESS of potions at this state of the game.

This is just my opinion, and it is based on the idea on whatever you do, swords should always be the most important thing to Geralt's fighting style.

True, it has been scaled down, probably to prevent stun locking enemies. Its still very powerful and I still use it , to counter the nerf I switched all my slots to greater Igni and enemies still melt before me.

I knew it. I HAD a nice build based on fire. Firestream is now basically useless. This was NOT mentioned in the patch notes. Why nerf a single player, non-competitive game? Seriously...you guys are just like all the other game companies now..you mention the "good" in the patch notes, but also hide all the nerfs you put into every patch. Seriously. I should not have to re-spec my guy after a patch. You lost one user today CDPR, and I hope you lose a lot more. Don't become like Blizzard Entertainment, and what they did to Diablo 3 with all it's nerfs..I won't ever buy another Blizzard game, and CDPR will now get a close, hard look and a wait after each release of your subsequent games before I'll buy. I'll wait about a dozen patches to see how badly you nerf your future games into the ground before I decide if it's worth a purchase. Shame on you CDPR..really.

I haven't played new patch just yet, but if that is true, then its somewhat good. The firestream with all points in it was like totaly op. Besides people allways whined about the game beeing to easy, and igni spell is one of those reasons, becouse it was overpowered. Now death march might be a bit more challenging

well if the objective was to stop me playing a witcher game...mission completed, collateral damage is i wont be buying next time until a year after release....

seems a damn silly business model to me,but hey, they might be the first devs that this worked for.

You're joking, right? I literally posted a video in another igni nerf thread where I could just whirl troll three red skull guards to the point where they got stunlocked and died.

Please do not act as if igni is the only thing that is OP.

They nerfed Igni? Really? This is a single player game for fuck's sake! CDPR just broke the cardinal rule of game patching! You don't effing nerf abilities in a single player game! What kind of nonsense is that?

Since when is that a rule, let alone a cardinal one? Whilst I agree some devs can stuff up with the Nerfing it is an important part of game balance, which exists for the sake of overall 'fun', if you can't understand that then I suggest you start learning how game design works for game balancing. If things are too easy you essentially have a very uninteresting game. SP or MP is irrelevant in this case.

Says who? You? Also, way to insinuate I'm ignorant.

Then explain your reasoning rather than citing some silly rule.

People seem to be missing my point. Balance the damn game before it is released. Don't release the game, allow people to find a spec that they enjoy, then nerf the living shit out of it. If you do decide to do this, include it in your patch notes. Be totally honest to your fan base about what you are doing in your patches. Don't hide the fact that your doing things, and allow people to just find out later. That pisses people off, and makes people feel lied to and deceived. Release your games already balanced and finished, instead of balancing them after release. This would eliminate the whole issue.

Mark my words..next patch it will be lootable containers because of the whiners complaining there is too much loot in the game. Wahhhh..I have to look to find good loot!! I can't just go to one chest and get everything I want!! This generation of gamers has become so lazy it's not even funny. If anything requires a little tedium and work, oh my god!! The world is ending!!!

You guys aren't going to get through to someone who simply refuses to look at their own folly rationally. Angry kid wanted to breeze through the game tapping one button. He even stated he enjoyed using Igni as his main weapon. Last I knew a Witcher's main weapon is a sword. But no, this is about the OP's main weapon preference, which clearly is more important than something silly like that. You can always spot an adolescent WoW player on these forums because they are the same ones who will barf tears at how the initial release didn't suit their little agenda then explode with prepubescent outrage when any change made isn't within that predefined scope. You cannot affect the minds of these types of people, and I even hate that I bothered contributing to this thread (/in before 'then why did you?') answer: Because you are a brat who cannot resist shrieking back at every logical post offering a constructive alternative to your hilarious tantrum, and you deserve it. Go play WoW and shriek about nerfs and "balancing" where it might actually apply.

Haha, "Igni as my main weapon" you already used mom's credit card to buy this game so the joke's on you.

And yes, Igni was stupidly overpowered to the point of it almost feeling like an exploit. Kids love exploits.
^ Says everything that needs to be said about this topic. You can close the thread now.

Somehow I think if CDPR did do all that, you'd still be making this thread to complain about it.

Really? You're going with this?

Name me one game in the history of video games that was released in a 'perfect' state without any bugs or balancing needed at all.

LOL..you just refuse to even admit that I have a point. What they did was dishonest. The way they went about doing it was even more dishonest. They listed all the "fixes" they made to the game..Why not list all the changes they made? You are totally missing my point.

Oh, and NO, I wouldn't be here upset about it if they had balanced in the first place, because I wouldn't have needed to be. I wouldn't feel lied to, deceived, and like a guinea pig.

So a build that requires one button to be held, 1 skill to be used, is done from range, and requires 1 rune type 1 mutagen type and 1 glyph type is work?

Overpowered builds are bad for the game. If certain skills are too powerful some people will exclusively use them, while others will intentionally avoid them, and that's bad game design multiplayer or not. Good balance is where skills are chosen based on their utility and how fun it is to use them.

I've said it in here before. Yes it should have been in the patch notes, but I doubt it was left out maliciously.

I personally am fine with the nerf. Yet, that bit about 1 rune type, 1 mutagen type and 1 glyph type being used still holds true. Stacking those items is the only way of getting synergy and a meaningful effect (whichever effect you happen to prioritize).

Take glyphs as an example. If you spread glyphs across various signs their effect is meaningless. If you stack all of the available glyph slots with one sign type, the effect is noticeable.

OH bullshit it was an oversight and not done on purpose. Do you know of any company that actually lists the nerfs in patch notes? This is what I'm saying is WRONG. I should be totally informed on what I'm downloading and installing so I can make an educated choice as to whether or not I want the patch. Why can't people see that? List EVERYTHING major you are doing. Not just the "fixes"...making the company look so god because they are "fixing" their buggy games.

Spot on.Thank you. We are not playing as one self, we control Geralt. A master swordsman.

Why do people care the way other people play?
It's an offline game. If you think something is overpowered and don't like it, don't use it.

I understand why people complain when something is overpower on an online game, but in an offline game, I don't.

I din't use signs that much, the only one I used lots of time, was the shield sign, and I couldn't care less about the ones who used igni the way they did.
