Check in quest items tab and readables tqb. And you get the book from Keira at the end of her quest (the one with underground exploration, don't remember English name).

Oh my god.I am not sure i actually understood that right, but the crones ate the children?!?!That was a huge twist.I was about to help the tree spirit, but it felt untrustworthy,so i betrayed it and killed it without a battle(hehehehehhehe). But then i realised i killed the kids by doing so...Damn :'(

The story is based on..

Hansel and Gretel, so it wasn't really a surprise. I killed the spirit tree too, i had the feeling that it was more dangerous, especially after learning that his bones didn't appear human.

These three evil witches and story around them fascinated me. Anyone can recommend me something similar in books or movies?

I hope that the tree spirit will join the fight against the crones.

Don"t worry, you might've killed the children but
you saved the people of the town of Downwarren, the bloody baron and his wife.
So yeah, a choice between two evils.

It's a bit of a catch 22.

if you help the tree, the orphans survive but I don't recall ever seeing them again. If you kill the tree, the orphans die and also, we get a hint they were eaten, thus...we never see them again. Some have to die so others can live but the irony is, neither get a happy ending and neither you see either again regardless...and I don't recall ever seeing the tree spirit again either!

I wish this had a third ending.

I thought the children in the school in Novidgrad are the ones of the swamp ...?

Well, such is life. After I read the book about the trapped spirit, who she really is, no way in hell I would ever release her. The orphans are made into a stew and eaten, as per agreement with the Crones. Anyone walking the trail of treats ends up this way. It is known :listen:

But they would have died in the swamp anyway, plus the entire village would have been slaughtered, and the same horror would insure as before the spirit was trapped, with more and more people being constantly lured into the swamps and killed. Sad choice, but pretty clear for me.
