Launch problems after Patch 2/ Non-existent disk missing

I have updated with Patch 2. Now when I attempt to start the game , the Launcher does not work unless the Internet is connected.

Right-clicking and attempting to "Run as Administrator" makes no difference.

At the bottom of the Launcher I see "Connection error. Try again later."
Then the launcher is "locked-up" and has to be shut down with the Task Manager.

Once the Internet is connected the Launcher tries to start, but gives the message "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk in the drive". (After exiting the game the Launcher can be shut down "normally").

Then after a bit more sulking it starts the game!

(After exiting the game the Launcher can be down "normally").

I re-installed Patch 2 and the patcher said it had been successful, but when it finished and auto-started the Launcher, I again get the message "Connection error. Try again later."

It seems that an internet connection is required to launch the game-surely this is not right?

Help Please?

If you`re using a version other than Steam try going to your witcher2/bin folder and locate the witcher2exe and right click this and send to desktop . Then try launching the game from the new shortcut .

Thanks. I'm not using the Steam version- but the one from GOG.

So I'll try your suggestion- which sounds promising!

Also (in case you didn't know) there's a full v2.0 (10+Gb) that's on GoG now you can download. I've not had any problems at all with that one.
