Launcher doesn't work

Hi,
I have TW2-DVD, Patch 2.1.
I can start launcher.exe but can't launch the game, start Options, View the Manual or Exit the Launcher - must kill the process with the Taskmanager.

If I start the game direct (witcher2.exe) or configurator.exe (Options) all works well.

I'm pretty sure last time I played (more or less 3 weeks ago) the Launcher works normal.

Any Idea?

If you haven`t you might want to make sure you`re using the latest update to Java also you might be missing some registry keys go HERE and scroll down until you see Steam hides in taskbar . It works for all versions not just steam . Then retry launcher

Try going to your game install directory and open Witcher 2 . You should see a list of files with launcher exe being one of them . Right click and run as administrator . When this launcher opens can you select any of the options and do they work ?

Have you tried disabling the full screen mode?

Problem more or less solved.

Launcher only works as expected when it can access the Internet.
I have some "redecoration the furniture in the room" work (on behalf of the wife) lately, and so my Gaming Computer wasn't online for a week.

So, is this normal behaviour that the Launcher works only when online or is it one more problem with Patch 2.1?
I think I can remember before 2.0/2.1 it worked without access to the net.

I think steam uses online unless you select offline mode .

If you go to the game directory and in the witcher 2/bin folder and locate the witcher2exe and right click-Send to desktop . Then run the game from the new shortcut everything should work fine . Unless you use Steam and then this method won`t work .

Sounds like you're experiencing a very common (maybe universal?) problem with the 2.1 patch. It caused a big problem with Steam users because they're not able to run the executable directly (so they require the .exe of a different version), but the rest of us can just make a shortcut to the executable and run it from there until it's fixed. And yeah, you're right that it wasn't a problem before the 2.1 patch.

So I will make 2 shortcuts:
1. "witcher 2/bin/witcher2.exe" to start the program and
2. "witcher 2/bin/Configurator.exe" to change options

I hope there will be a Patch 2.2 shortly
