Launcher issues after patch 2.1 please help!!

Im using Steam version of the game and after updating to 2.1 the launcher is broken. I can bring the launcher up but i cant click on any options in the launcher such as start game or options or even view readme, i cant even close the launcher out, every time i try to click on something in the launcher i get the windows error beep. Ill have to ctrl-alt-delete and end the process. anyone else having this problem? I need some help please and yes i installed .NET manually. any help is appreciate thanks

Since 2.1 for Steam you cant seem to run the game from the exe anymore so you need to be on the internet to play the game offline. New DRM System on the Steam Version.

what thats totally freakin gay. I dont have the net at my house currently and i just bring my computer over to my cousins house to get game updates and such. "you need to be on the internet to play the game offline" is kinda pointless? Is their anyways around this bullshit? Just lost respect for this company for using DRM especially screwing people over who don't have the internet and now they can't play your game. Fail update CDProjectRed, good work *thumbs up*

The Retail version simple way arround it. but i notice that after using the exe the game updates stop working after while so 2.1 dint want to install. Steam you can try to play offline Mode.

This bug has been there since 2.0. It was confirmed as a bug, so it presumably isn't a deliberate attempt to re-introduce DRM, but of course the effect is exactly the same.

Easy workround for retail users and non-Steam downloads - run witcher2.exe from /bin instead of using the launcher.

There's currently no workround for Steam users. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I don't know if it's dependent on why it can't connect, or if it's something else that occasionally triggers it to work.

Setting Steam to offline doesn't make any difference, as the problem is in the game launcher, not the Steam client.
Running witcher2.exe doesn't work as it sends you back to the launcher.

would probably work, but I haven't seen one for version 2.1 yet, so right now we're screwed.

Witcher 2 is still DRM free and has been since 1.1 . I cannot say what Steam did to theirs but since 2.0 Steam users needed to be online to play whether or not it`s still like that only Steam users can say . The physical disc i had no problems with updating to 2.1 and not all people are affected with the 142 error . My thinking with the 142 error is you either have a corrupt registry or a possible driver software conflict . An instance would be the LucidLogics software that comes with the ASRock Z68 motherboards . Once users uninstalled the LucidLogics software they could update to the 2.1 patch . Also malware can play a big role in how stable your system is .

A Bug Notice that Bandai Namco Logo is now back on the page since 2.0. i notice that this cant be a bug because it was added in the game patch. the launcher never had the offline or online mode with 1.35 ?. i dont know but would be nice to see a big 2.2 that fixes this and the poker dice bug & LOL THE FOV CAM.

If you`re referring to the Namco-Bandai logo when you launch the game yes it is there on 2.0 but the US version of 2.1 the Namco-Bandai logo is gone and i hope that in future patches you get your wish on the others .

Not true Tommy. i had 2.0 and was able to play in offline mode with no internet connection just fine. My game broke with the 2.1 patch, is there a way around where i can use the exe and not the launcher?

In your witcher 2 game directory there should be a readme.rtf file that you can open if the readme shows that 2.1 is installed then switching exe`s is a viable option that you might try although not recommended as there are a lot of variables to consider .

I Have Hope for this Game. what im Asking is not Hardcore Basic Bugs to Fix. Launcher Fix would be nice Now also. one patch no Hotfixes and not 5 to installs. Cam & FOV why can any other game have this but not this game. i like this game so much that i keep coming back to the forums for Hope.

It says 2.0.bunchofrandomnumbers when you hover over it, but the Namco Bandai logo is gone and my readme is at 2.1 so I'm sure that it's the updated file. You'd think it'd say 2.1.numberrama, but such logic would make all of this far too easy.

Unbelievable to reading such an useless information instead of saying, sorry, WE MADE A MISTAKE!!!!!

There are lots of problem with this game. When will be really-really ready to use? I start the game and every time I should wait almost 20 minutes to drop into the game. Tell me moderator, this is normal???

What does a moderator know about being normal ?
Might be helpful to list some system specs .

awesome 227, thanks a bunch. The exe works and i can now play this game again. Was really bummed because i just started the game on Dark Mode and then 2.1 came out like a few days later and now i couldnt play the game. So i really appreciate this. Cheers Mate!

I had the same issue of launcher no longer loading the game and just stalling after patching the game to v2.1, so I uninstalled and reinstalled the game, but didn't update to 2.1 (stopped after the 2.0 patch). The game now works and I can play it, but every time I run the game launcher, it tries to update to v2.1, which is becoming annoying.

Is there a way to get it to stop trying to update until such time (if ever) that the 2.1 patch actually works correctly &/or a version 2.1b (or whatever) patch is available to solve this issue?

Does anyone know if someone is actually working on an update that resolves this issue?

I assume you're NOT a Steam user?
Run the game from /bin/witcher2.exe instead of from the Launcher. (Create a desktop icon if necessary)

There are known issues with the 2.1 patch and some software not being compatible .
Do you have Kaspersky Internet Security , Adobe Acrobat Extended Pro or running Virtu software that came shipped with AS Rock Z68 motherboards ?

Also do as dragonbird suggested if you are not a Steam user .
