Let me bind ALL keys on PC
I want to be able to bind Inventory, Map, and maybe others to keys that DON'T SUCK.
My right hand is on my mouse and I don't want to move it unless something important comes up, like a need to scratch my balls.
My left hand, where WASD is, is where I want all of my important hotkeys.
The RPG conventions of "I" for inventory and "M" for map only make sense in that each is the first letter of the word, and that's where it ends - neither makes any sense from actually being useful.
It's also annoying that when you do something like move either your left or right hand from where they belong to press "M" for map that then hitting ESC doesn't close the map unless you hit it 3X because even though you pulled the map up directly via hotkey, the UI thinks you should then exit the map via multiple other screens. A SMART UI would realize that you got to the map via 1 action, so ONE PRESSING OF ESC should get you out of it, and if you got to the map by navigating multiple screens instead then backing you out one screen at a time might make sense.
Since every UI screen is kind of slow and takes a while to render/think/whatever it's doing, going thru 3 screens when you really only want 1 is annoying (and I really don't get why I'm on a cray mainframe - ok, maybe not, but I run the game on ultra with ease - why are the UI screens so slow/wonky/hitchy to open/close - is it building them from xml every damn time they render or what?)
All of this applies to inventory too.
All of this is especially annoying when you're new to a game like this, as we are now, and you're needing to go in/out of map or inventory a lot since everything is new. I'm checking inventory all the time - partially because I have no idea what anything is, and partially because the on screen notifications for things you loot suck so bad I have no idea what I'm looting most of the time.
Hell, most of the time when somebody gives me a quest reward I have no idea because usually something else is going on with the UI that obscures whatever reward text flies by. Hours later it's like, hmm, where did I get that item/recipe/wtf-ever. Would've been nice to know I got this about 3 hours ago.
NPC is like, oh, you're such a kind murderer, here, take this. And I'm like, that's nice - WHAT - WHAT did you give me? It's a mystery because the UI flashed it while I was still in pseudo cutscene yap with NPC mode and outside of looking thru my entire inventory I have no clue.
Anyways - side rant is beyond the point - point is, why in the world are we locked from rebinding certain keys - it makes no sense - set the PC users free.
