It is impossible not to notice these problems when you are going to be spending so much time in the game.

But it's noticeable in every streaming open-world(or otherwise) game. The newest example for me being GTA V, shadows abruptly appear under cars when you get near them, foliage will appear/disappear as you move, things in the world the same way. It's easily noticeable and there's nothing you can do about it.

The only thing you can do is get used videogames having videogame problems, this is how it's going to be for a long, long time.

I would be very happy if Witcher 3 used the ways GTA V uses to hide pop ups. Even in an Xbox 360, when I first played it there, the pop up was clevery disguised. Even though it was evident, especially in long distances, the immediate visible surroundings of the player looked much more solid than the W3. Again, I am not comparing the games since they have different mechanics (I think it's not a good example you used), but GTA V looked much more solid regarding pop ups, especially when flying when the whole world engine was put to the test. Also, the below video shows that GTA V (X360) didn't have the close pop ups you claim.

Hmm? did you only watch 10 seconds of that or something? I can totally see lots of pop in and shadow detail being drawn right in front of the character. At one point parts of that car pop in directly in front of him. Its less noticeable but thats because there are far less terrain objects. It doesnt fare any better in the current gen PS4 version either:

I am not saying they do not exist. All I am saying is that there are not so evident all the time. Besides, you are comparing console versions. Anyway, it wasn't me who made the comparison in the first place, I was just responding.

Still doesn't make any difference to me. Having the world constantly updating in front us is far is not something I was expecting from a game with such loft graphical ambitions.

You are the one who introduced the console comparisons and posted the video. I assume sid is referring to the recently recently PC version which has similar pop in issues. And again, its "not as noticeable" only because there just is no where near the same amount of objects. It also wouldn't be as noticeable in W3 if 80% of the landscape was just a flat low res ground texture.

Its that ambition that causes it. They could totally have gone with a less ambitious design. they could be like certain other games and split the world into 20 static zones with no dynamic weather, no living world, a horse that gallops like its ready to die, npcs that stand in one place for the entire game, and induce a loading screen in every interior.
