Lets just be realistic... and look to the sequel.

No. The game ends how it does because by the end of production they realized they would rather ride the final swells of the MMO craze and coast for a bit. They're cashing all the checks in exchange for the reputation they cultivated, and wrote the game in such a way that what's done is done. End of story. Rockstar surely sees the sales numbers this former CD printer from Poland has done and could well swoop in to deliver the game we thought we were getting at some point in the future though.

It all depends upon the Licensing Agreement struck with Pondsmith and Talosorian. They're probably mindful of the fiasco that results from long term fixed agreements for popular properties (think Battle tech, Mechwarrior) where the brand is degraded, and have clauses regarding not only use but material reputation impacts through poorly performing licensed products.

In short, if CP2077 tanks so hard, the IP owners have an enforceable escape clause if they hired a Legal Team that did more than fog a mirror.

That's what really determines if they'll be another Cyberpunk product under CDPR or not.

I'm astonished by how poorly they handled this release, I really can't wrap my head around the fact that they went from "we leave greed to others" to a shameful money grab.
They completely tarnished their reputation, it doesn't make sense even from an economic point of view imho...
Almost two months have gone by and I'm still quite speechless about this whole fiasco!

The same can happen with the sequel.
If this game was released unfinished, maybe the sequel will be released unfinished too.

It's too soon to guess

I hope this game gets fixed and finished and if there is a sequel is released really when it's ready.

this game will get fixed one way or another. But finished in terms of cut content or missing features or broken promises. That will never happen.

Maybe so but they have a pretty good foundation to build upon should they choose to pursue the idea of making another game set in the same universe. There are plenty of stories that could be told in NC. The framework is there and instead of spending resources on creating something completely new they could concentrate on improving the current system to deliver the game so many desperately want CP2077 to be.

REALISTICALLY... THAT IS THE DUMBEST WORST DECISION A COMPANY LIKE CDPR WOULD MAKE.
This game still have a lot to give & more potentials than any other Witcher games. There I said it.
They just need to keep on fixing & improving the game, especially since the "outrage" kinda died down on its own. CP2077 could easily spawn 4 expansions & CP Multiplayer is still a thing.

I don't think you realize how much money it takes to make a new game out of thin air instead of improving upon current one.
Don't even expect a sequel until new Witcher game comes out too.

If I am being honest, I think instead of a Witcher sequel, CDPR should remake Witcher 1 & Witcher 2 first. A smaller budget projects, something that is on demands, & have the potentials of massive sells especially with Netflix Witcher popularity in current time.

Doubtful. Instead of spending the time realizing the game and riding the success toward remarkable DLC - they'll be spending it fixing issues on last gen systems as PC languishes, often breaking further in the process, and they collect feedback on the shoe horned MP mechanics in preparation for online game. Less than 30% of initial buyer engage DLC on average, and thats for a finished game. How will people respond to DLC, with the impression it's just content that was cut (whether this is actually true or not), after this? Even the "next gen upgrade" has been delayed considerably. Who will be interested when the time comes around as the mystery of what's in the box has worn off?

Yes, the outrage has died down. However; this game's mighty roar will echo into eternity.

Keep in mind thousands upon thousands, sometimes millions, of possible buyers watch these streamers. You and I may not, but a lot of people do. What's their impression?

Thus, the transition into a coastal AAA studio will be complete.

How proud Marcin Iwiński must be seeing people making fun of his game.

They might actually make a mature game, for adults, that touches on adult subject matter, instead of censoring even its discussion and blindly destroying its own fans of such content as purveyors of porn.

They might make flying vehicles.

They might actually create sidecontent that makes the world feel alive, and real.

They might make something so great, it's still having add ons put into the game over 5 years later, who knows. However, if it's getting done, Rockstar's doing it.

They might make AI that actually resembles ANI, like RDR2 nailed, as it was also my game of the year, Dunkey nailed it.

Not saying it will be like next year or anything but there will be a sequel this game it was too popular, they can fix bugs and add DLC but "this game is this game" it wont ever be what was hyped. Im saying maybe they can nail what they were going for this time, the second time around
