level 40+? it seems a myth to me..

I have seen so many of you reporting that after doing ALL possible quest/contract/main quest you reach level 35-37 depending on how you manage to not waste XP cause of the 5 level difference...

but anyway seems a myth to reach level 40+...

there are no contracts or monster to farm after level 36..(the giants in skellige is barely level 30)...anyway we have a lot of level 40+ weapons...

i have for example a recipe for a level 47 sword...this is maybe intended for dlc?

Yes i think with new DLC (paid and free) we will get more quests and contacts to allow us to level further. Also we have the chance for "new game+"

I'd cut off my ear and present it to the crones for a New Game Plus mode.

You can kill cyclopses to level up, They give like 40 EXP. But it really is a pain in the ass

It's possible but not likely. First off you play on easy mode. Higher levels reduce XP. Next make sure you complete quests in a specific order by doing quests that are 1-2 level below you. Do not let ANY quests go grey on you. This will cost you XP. Third visit brothels and do loans. Loans are especially good as you get 30 XP for 13 orens.

So on easy mode, with careful planning and lots of other stuff (using AXII in dialogue nets 40 XP) you can do it. The main quests seem to award a set amount of XP no matter your level.

Where is this mob? I have completed the game and have really nice gear, but nothing to hit. I was hoping there would be areas of really strong mobs, but I cant find any.

Mosey on over to the NG+ thread & save your ear. It's almost certainly coming, no human sacrifice required :)

I'm pretty sure most quests went grey on me but I still managed to hit lvl 34 right after I was done with the main story. It was kinda ridiculous though: I started a certain main quest a lvl 20ish and literally gained one level per each main quest...

I've seen plenty of high level stuff in skellige.

I wonder...if you go to the Nilfgaard encampment in the far south east, if you can get XP off of killing the soldiers. They spawn back-to-back and are around level 46...it's hard, though. They are tough. I managed two of them.

As it stands, it has taken me longer to get from 35-37, than it has to get to level 35 in doing the story lol.
Yes, only a NG+ mode could be the most feasible way of banking XP. I would love to see this mode because so far, I have beaten the story 3 times. The first two times I got a similar ending. This 3rd time I got a different one and I'll want to keep experimenting with different dialogue choices. They should take some notes from Dark Souls and base their game on NG+. I love how in Dark Souls, beating the game once is just the beginning of your challenges lol.

as far as grinding goes, I hope it is so there is reason to play end game.

How about this? whats the highest level non Guard monster you know of and where is it?

I havent tried guards, but I cannot find anything close to my lvl 34.

There is a mod to get exp from gray quests. Maybe you can reach 40+. I do have diagrams for lv 40+ weapons... I wasn't aware you couldn't reach it by normal means...

There is no need to reach higher level. I'm also not sure about the DLCs. Are those supposed to be played AFTER the main story or rather during the main story?

Actually there is a need. I want to use those lv 40+ swords I have the diagrams for. I'm curious about those Dwarven made swords. Why put weapons you can't even reach the level to use it ? Open Beta ?

i would like to see more higher level monsters in this game. Its pretty boring to kill like 10-20 level enemies all the time, when you are about 35..

I used xp mod which grants normal xp from grey missions. I finished the game at level 42. Without the mod its impossible 40+ i believe.
