Levelling Up

I am in the prologue and am currently level 3. I have 2 talent points to spend but I cannot seem to spend them. I have been accessing the character screen (C) and trying to spend them there but nothing seems to be working. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thanks

Are you playing on Hard or Insane? I seem to remember you having to meditate in order to spend points on those difficulties.

EDIT: And remember--you have to spend a certain number of points on the training tree (the top one) before the others become unlocked. Also, I'm assuming you're talking about Witcher 2, but it would seriously help if you started off with which game you're talking about, or at least posted this question in the right sub-forum :)

Indeed you have to rest, in order to distribute your skill points.
Resting is also necessary for alchemy :) !

You should be able to use your talents anytime with C on easy and normal difficulty (in TW2, that is), but not in hard. Gotta sit down and relax and think on your choice in a more centered state of mind. ;-)

And you can only apply them in the top section (training). If I recall, you have to complete that section before sword, alchemy etc are open.

You don't need to complete the section, just have six points in it. So you can start using the other sections when you hit Level 8.

What do you recommend...completing a section much further or trying to build up all four sections equally? Can you do the later or must you focus on just a couple?

Usually it's better to specialize, according to how your Geralt prefers to fight. Swordsmanship is the most straightforward way to play, especially the first time through. Once you're experienced with the game, you can make even more powerful alchemy or magic specialists, or generalists who concentrate on the skills you favor most.

If you want to get the top talents on a branch, you pretty much have to specialize in that branch. Remember you only have 28 talents to spend (because of the level cap at 35, and the requirement to spend your first 6 talents in the training tree).

Yup. You specialise in one, but probably put a small number of points in the other two to get some basic skills.

The top talents in any tree are awesome, but you can only really get them in one tree per game.
