LMAO on 1.08.3 patch release note

ok not sure if this has been posted before, but on GOG it shows this:

  • Introduces a retro-active fix to some of the achievements that were amended in the patch 1.08. This time for real.

hahahhahahahha, one of the best release notes i have ever seen :)

Forgetting to update a module is not an unusual problem in the computer industry, and that's a typical comment. They probably weren't intending for it to be funny.

More likely they weren't intending that leftover note to be in the public release.

Half the code comments I've written were snarky and weren't meant for general viewing. :D

dude relax, its just a side note in funny way since they posted in previous patches that they got fixed and apparently not for everyone so this time they put it in a nicer funny way, so just ditch the conspiracy theories of yours and take it easy.

haven't you ever put something like this for general public?! me personally have done it alot of times in release notes for softwares i contributed in and managed and to be honest it feels funny and good at the same time, so i say it was intended :)

When is this coming? Does it mean that if I play right now on Steam it will give me all Achievements when it goes up?

I can't say for sure if CDPR wanted to make it sound funny, but by putting that on a patch note looks like CDPR is not taking the issues with their game seriously enough or not testing it properly before releasing, or both.

The game is a masterpiece (but with too much bugs, which many were introduced AFTER the patches), it is their work, their product and we are customers, it's not like they are making games just for fun, it's business. So, why make fun of it?

****IF**** their intention was to make fun of their consecutive fails, then I say it is a disrespect with their customers.

I doubt that they wanted to make fun of anything. It does sound funny though for someone who's never been involved in a IT project.
That's a fairly standard way to say that the patch you applied didn't work ("didn't work" as in "didn't work in all cases", otherwise QA wouldn't let you submit it any ways).

It's more along the ways of: "I know I missed something, and the second after I submitted the patch and pushed it, I realised the mistake and found a fix." Being embarrassed, basically.

Hahaha! Well at least they acknowledged the fact that some things were missed in the previous update and they are rectifying it now.
They're a relatively small studio if compared to behemoth's like EA so it's understandable that some things slip through the cracks.
I'm no code master but I did have some programming background and I can assume that for such a complex game, fixing bugs is not as easy as flipping a switch.

I really hope that's the case.

Yeah, I understand that, and that's why I think they should take their time to fix and test their fixes before releasing it. It's better to take a longer time to release a solid patch than small patches to fix the previous patches.

Thing is, for some the retroactive fix worked. I'm one of those lucky people who got loads of achievements for starting the game up when I installed 1.08. And couldn't care less for it sadly. So it seems some of those triggers were broken in different places so to speak, or the retroactive thing didn't work as intended.

Retroactive patches are tricky, I usually try to avoid making those. They are basically way more a pain than a normal patch, because you're adding code on top of something you might just have fixed. So with millions of different world states this retroactive activation has to work with, it's actually no wonder they took several attempts. And I actually like the fact that they told us about it rather than hiding it in the next big patch.

Regarding the problems with achievements. Unfortunately some folks are still affected by this bug on PC. We are working on releasing a hotfix to address this soon. Will keep you posted. It it's obviously our fault and, again, we are very sorry about this.
