LoD and texture pop-ins on PC in Ultra settings, fix in 1.07?

LoD and texture pop-ins on PC in Ultra settings, fix in 1.07?

I'm running the game on ultra settings (set to ultra by default by the game) and I have visible texture pop-ins and other LOD issues. I'm running the game from SSD so hard drive access times can't be the issue either. Are these going to be addressed in 1.07? I'm reposting this in this forum segment as this appears to be the only forum actually frequented by the devs. Ppl are in a berzerk fury over this in the PC sub forum but we have yet to see a single red post commenting on this issue.

Personally speaking it's absolutely killing the game when entire roof /wall textures change by doing just a single step closer to a building. Wouldn't a more seamless transition be a solution to make those exchanges less blatantly obvious? (I understand scaling is necessary but it shouldn't happen right under my nose). Can we PC users hope to see some improvements in the upcoming 1.07 patch when it comes to this?

Hopefully. I don't think it was this bad at release so surely a patch has broken it. Right now it's so unimmersive having NPCs spawn right next to me riding in to villages.

Dev confirmation would be nice.

Is it asking for too much to get an official comment on this? There are countless threads on this topic in the PC specific sub forum which are seemingly tossed aside without so much as sparing them a glance.

Are you working on the texture pop-ins and LoD issues present in the PC version of the game even on high end rigs or not. It's a simple "yes" or "no" question so I do not quite understand why none of the devs seem to be able to answer this question.

I mean you do have the time to comment on glyphs and quest related threads so you must be reading the forums (or this forum at least)

Read the previous threads. The issue is known and they are "looking into ways to fix it" (at least the Npc issues)

I also have the NPC pop-ins issue. I thought people were exaggerating the effects before I started to experience it. And I agree, it is definitely immersion-breaking. :ermm:

No problem with the textures though. Game is running on a SSD (v1.06 with all DLCs, no .ini tweaks, a few Nvidia panels settings) in 1080p, everything set to Ultra except shadows (high), details, terrain and NPCs (low), on an i5 2500k, 8GB of RAM and a GTX970 G1 Gaming.

If they had only bothered to post this in the PC section where it belongs. I haven't seen a single red comment on this there (and as a PC gamer it was the obvious place to look). And I viisted the forums daily (as it is a total immersion breaker) but thanks for the heads-up

Maybe you just haven't noticed those yet. Try approaching a small village and pay attention to the roofs of the buildings. At some "threshold" distance you will inevitably notice how the entire roof texture changes. I'm running the game on a i7 4770k with 8GB RAM at 2400MHz and have a MSI GTX984 Twin Frozr Gaming 4G OC and run the game on a SSD myself. So can't blame it on the superiority on your rig either (sadly for me). It is more obvious from some angles than others though (to be fair) and maybe ppl will not pay so much attention to what happens 600m away from them.

And it doesn't appear to be happening with all textures either (the complete texture exchange has only been noticable on aforementioned building roofs, the odd rock in the environment and building walls from a far distance, although in Novigrad I've also seen chimneys at the docks disappear when crossing the "threshold" (for lack of a better word), only to see them pop back in only a few metres later. Again what bothers me is not the texture exchange but the execution. I come closer, it makes *plop* and for example the building roof has a completely new texture (as evidenced by the fact that old holes are gone and new ones are there in their place.

Just so you see what I mean I've attached 2 pictures I uploaded a few days ago (I've highlighted the changes in red). As you can see in these pictures I literally made a single step towards the building (which is why the effect is so dramatic, particularly when one is in motion and walking slowly so I cannot even excuse this abrupt texture exchange by saying that I was simply moving too fast for the game to be able to catch up with my pace)

I honestly don't remember being annoyed by regular texture pop-in. It happens a few times during a playthrough, but it's definitely not game-breaking for me. Certainly not enough to see it as an issue. I am more annoyed by the shadows of small (and distant) objects that appear a bit to "obviously" as I get closer. I may have to tweak the .ini file.

Maybe you have corrupt files, wrong settings, bad .ini/.cfg file?

@Goofrette: Nope, I even set everything to low once to see if it would have any effect but to no avail (oh, and obviously I meant to write I have a gtx980 not 984 ;) ). After that I started tweaking the ini files a little (according to official guides) which has somewhat improved on the situation (but not solved it).

Also even one games-magazine in my country noticed these issues and subtracted one point from their score for the Witcher 3 because of aforementioned LoD issues and frequent texture pop-ins, not to mention that there is also an the enormous amount of threads on the forum on this very issue.

So all in all it certainly has nothing to do with corrupt files or ini settings (I mean when even official magazines write about noticable texture pop-ins I can rest assured that it cannot have anything to do with what I might have done to try and fix it myself).

I mean we're still talking about 92 out of 100 points (originally 93 before they substracted one point) but they did write that it was annoying that these pop-ins happened in plain sight (so exactly what I'm bitching about as well ).

@fatalframes: I did not notice it was discussed that much actually, I guess I should've paid more attention to that.
I hope they will find a way to fix it, maybe in the same way they will adress de NPC pop-ins? (it must be similarly related to how information generated, stored and then displayed)
