Loss of health in Beast of Toussaint quest

During this quest, I defeated the shaflmaar, let him live, deduced that we should search for Milton, and raced on horseback to the castle.

After my defeat of the shaflmaar, my health bar was at about 3/4. After the race to the castle, my healthbar was at 1/4. I'm not using NewGame+. How is this possible only horseracing to the castle?

Has anyone else noticed this?

Perhaps you drank a lot of potions during the fight so your toxicity was over the threshold. When that happens Geralt has similar debilitating effect as being poisoned and loses health over time.
