Or taking your launcher to a dinner instead of a lunch..

Anyhow .. if you re saying yes to the above question ... then ..

What is your system config. ?

Do you have the latest DX and drivers.. ?

What options are set in your configuration tool (launcher / options / advanced) ?

Find Windows or Steam "bug logs" and paste it there or on this text hosting: CLICK

Or something easier: Have you got WinRar, 7Zip, WinZip etc. installed on system?

I'm having this same problem. I've tried everything suggest in the support help. Right now I'm letting steam update the cache for the second time because it didn't verify. I have the feeling that it's not going to help. This is really frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

Don`t know but may be worth a shot..navigate to your install directory
X:/program files/steam/steamapps/common/witcher 2 and open the bin folder and right click the witcher2exe and send to desktop then close everything and close the steam application then try running the witcher2exe .

Nope, nothing. I've uninstalled my antivirus. I've tried running steam as admin, witcher 2 as admin, tried running with the app off, nothing is working. It's certainly not my system. One thing I'm noticing is that when I verify the game cache in steam it keeps finding 53 files not validated and then it spends the next 4 HOURS!! updating. I'm stuck in that endless circle right now.

Why are those files not validating?

Download patch 1.3 manually then disconnect from internet right click the patch and run as admin then reconnect http://en.thewitcher.com/patch1-3/

Steam is not the only one affected

Steam is strange :E

Anyway, have you got installed WinRar? Check that: http://bit.ly/pNHGvV
This error appears when you launch the game too.

Yeah, apparently many have experienced this problem. Of course, most people get it to run when they try running as admin, running steam in admin, verifying integrity, etc.

When I try that, it's now telling me the game installation directory was not found...

Should I try reinstalling the game?

No, just untick WinRar association with *.cab files and every "pack" files that Witcher 2 uses.

You can reinstall TW2 "for health" anyway.
