MacOS + Windows cross-progression — is it safe to switch between platforms?

+
I’m about to start what will probably be my final and main playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077. I want to use this save to thoroughly explore Night City, complete side content, find easter eggs, etc., so I really don’t want to risk losing or corrupting the save.

I currently play Cyberpunk 2077 on both Windows PC and Mac, and I would like to continue switching between them depending on where I’m playing.

I know that Cyberpunk 2077 officially supports cross-progression, including between PC and Mac. However, I’ve seen reports of cloud-save synchronization problems on macOS, so I’m a little concerned about using both platforms for one long-term save.

My questions are:

1. Is cross-progression between the Windows and macOS versions currently considered reliable?
2. Are there any known issues with switching between Windows and Mac repeatedly during the same playthrough?
3. Is there anything I should specifically do to make sure my saves are safely synchronized before switching platforms?
4. Would you recommend avoiding the Mac version if the save is important, or is it safe to use both platforms?

I’m using the same game version and the same Steam/CDPR account on both platforms.

I’d really appreciate confirmation from CDPR staff or anyone who has been regularly switching between Windows and Mac with the same save for a long time.

Thanks!

Hi,
1 - I didn't search all around the net, but I didn't see anyone on this forum since Cyberpunk is available on Mac who encounter issue with in-game cross-progression.
2 - None as far as I aware of.
3 - Just be sure the save you want to play on the other platform have the "little cloud icon" checked.
4 - Since I'm not aware about any particular issue with cross-progression on any platform, I would say that you can play on the platform you want and use cross-progression if you want to switch from PC to Mac or Mac to PC.

My only recommendation if you want avoiding issue at all cost, don't use mods. But that's all :)
(you could also copy in a separate folder your save either on PC or on Mac to keep a backup in any case).
