Berserker is not a good card. It has tempo of Peasant Militia. And it is terribly slow before it converts armor from other sources to value. Too few ways to convert armor to value is the major problem with dwarf decks. Berserker could ping the number of times equal to adjascent dwarves (meaning it can ping twice in one turn and threaten 7 tempo on pass). This still would not make him equal to Drummond Berserker who threatens 8 tempo on pass almost without any condition. And this would be a great payoff for the very difficult mission of actually getting value from Munro.

Mercenary is just bad. It restricts deckbuilding in order to get 7 or 5 value which is just bad. Dwarves do not need tall base power bodies like MO. If someone packs Mercenaries over Rebukes, Volunteers or even Berserkers then they are doin it wrong.

There is no deck-building restriction per-se. If you play Mercenary as the last card (or even having one non-dwarf *unit* in hand, meaning, you can have any number of specials or artifacts which wont change his behavior), he would still play for 7. But in post MM, 7 for 5 is laughable. SK gets 8 for 5 easily. This whole 7 for 5 was great a long time back, but now, it is just pretty meh. So, even otherwise, Mercenaries are junk.

Give a significant buff to Barclay Els (practically useless card for 7 provision) and a slight nerf to Harald Gord (maybe just 1 more provision if we're to keep it as simple as possible, though a more interesting nerf could be welcomed too) and we'd be on the proper track...

Barclay Els is not useless card - he counts himself for the buff and it is quite easy to fill row enough to have him reach 9-10 points of worth. Not bad for a 7 provisions card.

I would like to see the return of Dwarf Mercenary as an ping damage engine. With no Mystic Echo and Justice reworked it is no longer abuseable and Dwarf decks could use a bit of control. 4 strength with 5 provisions would be good (also buff lyrian arbalest by 1 strength or provision reduction).

Okay, so compared to a 4 provision bronze Mahakam Guard he offers a 1 or 2 point improvement? :p You see my point?
I have a few ideas of what to do with him...
1st: Deploy: Create and play one of 3 special cards: Mahakam Ale, Golden Froth or Tempering.
2nd: Deploy: Play a Dwarf from your deck whose provisions are equal to the current number of dwarves on your side of the field.
3rd: Give Vitality (1) to the unit on the right.
Barricade: Also give Vitality (1) to the unit on the left.

Also we could use another Dwarf offensive/control card. Like a unit or special card with and order for Lock.

Maybe a high provision card like Broover Houge: Deploy: Gain armor equal to the number of Dwarves on your side of the field.
Melee: At the end of your turn, damage a random enemy by the amount of armor on this card.
Ranged: At the end of your turn, Boost a random friendly unit by the amount of armor on this card.

Too much? Then make it "At the start of your turn" so it's not instant points.
Also Broover Houge could be a good candidate for an evolving card.

To Play Devil's Advocate: actually 2 points which is almost the provisions difference. As point efficiency normally decreases with provisions cost, Barclay is quite good. His buff can go to other row so you cannot be Yrdened.
I do agree that Dwarfs could get more control options.

That and he offers a TARGETED buff compared to the guard. This can keep a defender alive, or ensure that one of your Resilience dwarves survive the round for example.

Indeed - a miner and a guard, all in one card. And this time, just for you, only for 7 provisions!
Happy? :smart:
