Make unicorn and chironex playable again!

Once upon a time, the dynamic duo unicorn and chironex where everybodys favorite cards, everyone played them because of their good control and power. of course some people ended up complaining about this, so cdpr nerfed them and nerfed them again. a bit too hard though. so now nobody plays them.

Unicorn and chironex used to do something like this:

Unicorn
Boost an allied unit by 4
if chironex is on the board boost an allied unit by 8 instead

chironex
damage a unit by 4
if unicorn is on the board damage a unit by 8 instead

Now they damage or boost by 3 instead. This is simply not worth it at all at the moment. both unicorn and chironex cost 9 provisions. alone unicorn or chironex wont give you more than 7 points for 9 provisions. IF you get the double damage or boost from one of the cards and that is IF you pull it off, the cards are still not worth it because together, for 18 provisions they dont give you more than 18 points. Again, that is IF you get lucky with them.

Before they where nerfed getting the same amount of points as a cards provisions where good, because back then gold cards would on avarage give you 1 point LESS than its provisions but that was before all this powercreeping. now you want to get at least 2 points OVER a cards provisions. A lot of cards suffer the same fate as our dynamic duo, they have been too powerful and overplayed, then nerfed into oblivion and then they have only gotten worse and worse over time with all the powercreeping.

Take the witcher trio, lambert vesemir and eskel as another example. the witchers used to be a no brainer to a lot of players. They where not overpowered. There was just not that many other cards than the witchers to help you with thinning and consistency at the time they where playable, so a lot of players put them in their decks for this reason. Because of this you would see the witcher trio a lot, actually in about 50% of your matches. [...]
Now the witcher trio wont give you more than 6 points for 26 provisions! 6 points is the standard amount a 4 provision card will give you now! you could say they are worth it for the thinning but that is simply not true, because not only will they give you a very small amount of points for their price but they also have potential to brick!

So cdpr, i beg you please do something about this.

Yes, I don't understand, why nerf is always to the death? I think, the best nerf politic is "nerf a little, then nerf a little again, if previous nerf was not enough". I think, only players can nerf cards properly, cause they know the balance. Devs are not good players, cause they spend their time in developing. But it's not enough. U must play ur game very often too, u must go to the maximum higher to understand the real balance of your creation. Or delegate nerfing to the community or to the top players.
 
The main problem with these 2 cards is that they mirror each other, however from a gameplay perspective a "deal 4 damage" isn't equal to a "boost 4".
Many damage cards have been nerfed because of this, so while Unicorn would be fine in its previous form, Chironex would be too strong.

edit: Also many people complained about these cards before the nerf, they were in every deck because they were broken, not because they were "everybodys favorite".
 
Unicorn+ Chironex. 17 points(2x 4 power + (3+6boostdamage) ) for 18 provisions divided into two cards.
Auckes and Serrit are 12/14 points (2x5 power + 2/4) 15 provisions with Letho together 18/23 points for 24 provisions. But lock has no direct power value but better utility.
Crones trio 21/25 points (6+5+4power + 6/10 boost/damage) for 24 provisions. Consumes value is depending on too many other things.

Overall they all seem to provide values close to the overal provision cost. If the duo did more before they were probably broken :D.

That's true but in that specific case it's fine. When you see the unicorn hit the board, you know that chironex is next so you're gonna try to get rid of it. It's easier to keep chironex alive since people usually care less about boost.

I think they are fine. If you manage to keep it it's a 6 damage for 9 provision, otherwise one less than regis or golem

Right now you want to get at least 1 point over a cards provisions. thats just how it is now with all the powercreeping that has been going on.

Nobody can deny that unicorn and chironex are underpowered now with defenders beeing a thing and most engines beeing at 4 power. so chironex is not worth it for control, and unicorn wont give you enough points to be worth it 9 for provisions.

i think just lowering the provision cost of chironex and unicorn by 1 and making unicorn boost by 4 or 8 should solve things.
This way chironex wont be too controlly and will always give you 7 points for 8 provisions, and unicorn will give you 8 for 8.

seems fair to me.

A way to make them stronger, without making them auto include in any deck that manages to play both, would be to make them more specialized.

For example:
Chironex (4): Damage an enemy by 3. Order: Give a unit bleeding 4. If Unicorn is on the board gain Zeal.
Unicorn(4): Boost an ally by 4. Order: Give a unit vitality 3. If Chironex is on the board gain Zeal.
