I guess that means we will visit just the throne room during a cutscene (maybe the castle), but we won't see anything of the city.my bad
It's the physical map from the collectors edition. They wanted to get the different areas on one map. Like you said, skellige and kaer morhen aren't that close to Velen/Novigrad in reality.this map is not at scale and has wrong distances between zones. Quite different from the map of 35min gameplay.
It's just typical map of POIs with lots of details of them, meaning the scale is messed up pretty bad and you shouldn't refer to this map when thinking about scale or exact locations. Here we can see that they put Kaer Morhen pretty close to the Novigrad, all the maps I seen so far put Kaer Morhen far north, in Kaedwen, but on the other hand none of those maps are official, like map of Middle earth from LOTR, so i guess it is not a problem
Indeed, I think that character is the ruler of the region, Crach an Craite. Makesense because he own Kaer Trolde Kaer Trolde. At some points on the map you can see the image of a character with a symbol next to it (beneath Kaer Trolde, above Oxenfurt etc.). Does anyone have any idea what these are meant to represent? Maybe something with the politics of the world?
Ok cool. I like it that they included this on the map, I think I count about 7/8 of these characters in total.Indeed, I think that character is the ruler of the region, Crach an Craite. Makesense because he own Kaer Trolde Kaer Trolde.
You can see him better here, in the right with his crown:

As for the character benath Oxenfurt, his heraldry next to him look a lot like the one of the kingdom of Redania:

So I think this is Radovid V, the actual king of Redania.
i just realized the pics above only show a part of the map. Comparing it with the CE map:Well shit. It still looks like an awesome map. But it is very disappointing since Gors Velen is in the area and it's sounds like such an awesome place when described in the books. No school of magic ... no market place ... no crumbling island filled with illusions and traps. Whomp.

I agree but I think it's like 5-10% chance. The black fault line seems to be a clear demarcation of the edge of the main Novigrad/No Man's Land Map. So unless Gors Velen is a separate area (Like Vizima, Skellidge, and Kaer Morhen), I don't think it will be in the game.So there is still hope.
