Mature DLC suggestion.

I was speaking to my GF and explaining why Cyberpunk had so much censoring with regards to the violence and sex on display. She suggested that because it's a fictional city and therefore strictly fantasy, why not ramp up the dystopian themes of humans as commodities whereby we sell our bodies and don't often consider what we do as degrading acts in order to make money?

She also noted that GTA had such disturbing themes first before Cyberpunk even existed so why did this game suffer the censoring fate?

She also came up with a suggestion that the base game could be the censored version, however, you could have the option of downloading all of the mature elements and themes first appearing in the lore in a separate DLC. That way, nothing is compromised and those of us that want the hyper-realistic over-sexualized and ultra-violent escape could do just that with a simple download. Perhaps it could be put behind a paywall that checks card details so as to further legitimize the whole process and ensure only mature gamers can access this content.

I can't help but think that this is the original idea the developers had in mind anyway to explore these themes that we as a mature audience enjoy exploring.

Would this even be viable?

please discuss with some knowledgable discourse!

Hey,
my personal opinion is that there are many more adult topics in CP (as a genre) than just the most visible ones.

Think about stuff like social/economical/environmental/.. stability, basic needs (food, water, place to live, clothes, safety,...), poor/wealthy differences, corporations and their tech (e.g. mind control, sometimes even literally),...

I think that the romance scenes (as detailed as they are) and stuff are kind of redundant at this point, as they are getting overshadowed by the story and its themes.

In the end, what surprises me more is that the game is not censored (completely) for (mentioning) stuff like politics, wars, corporations, money, environmental hazards, the value of life,...; and all of it set in (not very distant) and based (pessimistically?) on the current world

On the other hand, there are many such materials already, so CP77 should not be an exception.

Just my opinion indeed but I wonder what type of "mature contents" we talk about.
If it's "explicit contents", I think Cyberpunk was/is/will never intended to be a "porn game", so it's may be better to forget that right now.
If it's about "gore", dark topics, political... it's already very mature like @0248991 already write it :)

Edit :
Or you means remove all the "mature contents" actually in the game and offer them in a separate DLC ?
If yes, it's not required, the game is already 18+ (and above all, it would require to remove almost everything^^) :)

Yeah, there is no point in wanting more nudity/gore etc. I think current balance is quite OK for a game. Storywise its mature content anyway with lot of hard topics touched - I do hope for more.

I think what a lot of people refer to when talking about "censored content" is the rumor that nudity was always fully turned on and there were more sex scenes and more explicit content included before Sony allegedly made them "tone it down" or they would not certify it for release on the PlayStation version, which in turn caused the game to be censored on all platforms to keep it a uniform experience. I have no idea if there is any truth to that rumor, but I know it's been brought up a few times and would assume it is to at least some degree what inspired this post.

As for adding more "Adult" or "explicit" content and having an option to enable or disable that content either through DLC options or parental controls/streaming friendly modes etc... It could work, but I'm not sure how necessary it is. Don't get me wrong it would be nice to have more activities to do with romance partners after finishing their story, they become props in the background in their current form, but those activities don't need to be sexual or explicitly sexual (it would be fine if they are, but it's not needed) It would also be nice to have more side characters to engage with outside of the main quest, and have the romance option for those who might like it, but again the same level of nudity/explicitness of those partners would be fine, as long as it's well written fun content.

Honestly, I'd just like whatever DLC we get free content updates or paid full expansions to be well crafted and engaging. It could be anything from races and side activities to minigames or full-blown stories just make it good.

The point is, many of the adul conent is scripted as part of quests but outside of quests its unavailable. You can visit a doll in the clouds to progress in Judys storyline, you can watch braindaces for various quests, and you can sleep with your romance parters again as part of a quest event. So it is already in the game but you cannot access it just as much as you want. Thats what i would critize about this topic.

They created a huge world with so many places to go, why not create some additional limited braindances that one can purchase in the many stores in the game. But the core of this is that the player can do it repeatly.. like spending a whole night watching some braindances.

When i think about how often V gets a dialoge option with some parkeeper about nice BD´s and they advertise their "stuff" and.. nothing. Why do they add a dialoge option for something that cant be used or even purchased? I mean they didnt even add some BD junk items.

Not that this answers your whole point, but there is "BD Junk" that can really only be used for components any attempt to use them just says incompatible with BD format or something like that so you can only break them down for parts, but they are in game.

But yes I would like to see more BDs/TV/Random activities that are outside of the core game and while I don't personally think they need to be "Adult" I wouldn't mind working arcade cabinets as an example, I'm also not against those activates being more on the mature side it is a mature game, Like that new club that "opens" up to you after doing Kerry's questline, sure it adds two new Toys, but the venue itself is dead empty except during his quest and the Terrace that he "Had closed for the night" never actually opens that I've seen. Those things make the world feel less alive than I'd like Its a great world it just feels empty if you look too hard.

They might have. Its not easy to figure out and think CP is probably one of the weirdest games in that regards.

For a game where you can "customize" your lower parts, one would assume that this were done because CDPR wanted CP to be mature. But why they decided to add this, given how it is implemented in the game makes little sense. CP as far as I remember is not even close to being as mature as The Witcher is.

My guess is one of three or maybe a mixture.
1. They originally intended for the game to be mature, which one can also see in the original clips, as there are "joy toys" all over. You have the adult shops as well. But they might have dropped it a long with a lot of other things, like the BDs etc. simply because they ran into too many problems with other things. But they left it in there, because they had already announced it.

2. They added this simply as a marketing "scam", because they wanted the game to appear mature and more than just an action shooter.

3. The original idea got dropped when Keanu joined, because they didn't wanted to risk running into issues.

I think CP in general smells of good intentions and ambitions that never got implemented. It very clear when you play it that a lot of effort have been put into varies features, but that they have never been fully implemented.

Especially the BDs and the very strange genitalia options I think are evidence of this.

Sorry, all, but topics centered on censorship issues or requests for more nudity / sexual content are no longer permitted. Unfortunately, they have devolved quickly into threads that required far too much action.
