The impression I got from reading the story script is that choices do have some influence now, but not a great deal.

I disagree, your choices have a pretty huge impact, even ME1, ME2 choices ( which surprised the hell out of me ). The Council, Rachni, Wrex choices of ME1 matter quite a bit. The ME2 Legion and Tali loyalty quests a hell lot more then that and the Collector Base decision might just end up being the single most important decision of both ME1 and ME2.

So yes I'd classify them as mattering a great deal, not as much as some decisions present in TW2, true, but the choices you import matter a hell lot more then in an import of TW1 to TW2 for instance.

So yes, Bioware has grown some goddamn balls since I am fairly sure some people will be pissed at what they did with the consequences of ME1, ME2 decisions.

It's actually really good. I mean, I wasn't a fan of ME1, and I kinda "hated" ME2, but the ME3 does the game justice imo. I'm sure you will find people who thinks it's not, but even me who isn't a fan of the series, really enjoyed it, except for the endings (though I haven't seen them all).

14 armors, and 5 or 6 causal wears. There might be more, but thats how many that I've found in the game. Note that some armors are the armors you had in ME2 (like Blood Dragon armor, Collector armor, etc.)

Well to be honest, I think it mattered quite much, compared with other games. I think ME3 is the only game so far to have choices matter the most, as I said earlier. Sure, some will think they didn't matter enough, but they still do.

Fair enough, I haven't played the game so won't have the same experience from just reading the script. Won't play it either, but at least good to hear what you have done earlier in the games have more than just a negligible importance. ME1 decisions in ME2 was beyond a joke. This being the final game in the series has probably made it easier for them to let the decisions matter.

I guess downloading the 'right' decisions from ME1 and ME2 will become a big deal now when people figure out they can't get their way without replaying both games first. Maybe even the Biodrones will get temporarily hacked and show small signs of intelligence and self-awareness.

More likely, though, Tali will not be worried.

Actually good sir, you are wrong about that, oh so very wrong.

Believe me I can't wait to drink the tears of Talimancers want they realize what can happen to her in ME3.

Ah, I see my analogy fell flat on its face then.

I've got a bit of a dilemma regarding ME3. Based on the direction that BW has been moving in generally, and strong reservations about the direction of the Mass Effect series in particular, i canceled my pre-order several months back when the Origin requirement was announced. Or, at least, I thought I did.

What happened is that I had originally ordered it from Amazon, but added an order at Game Stop because they usually get the better pre-order bonuses, but at the time no retailer exclusives had been announced. When I canceled my order, I canceled the one at Amazon, but completely forgot about the order at Game Stop. Now it's too late to cancel the order, however I can return it easily for a refund, minus shipping.

But, Queenslayer's impressions sound more positive than most of the vitriol swirling around the interweb tubes. So I'm wondering if I should reconsider.

I guess I'll wait to see more reviews before I decide, but I'm just curious as to what the rest of you think I should do. FWIW, this is an N7 edition, so if the game is a hit, even one I don't personally care for, it might be worth selling rather than returning.

Thanks to Queenslayer for sharing his/her impressions, too!

If you're going to have the game either way and can handle having Origin installed on your computer, then you might as well play it. If you get to the ending and feel like you've wasted your time, then that's one more used copy floating around that someone can pick up and use to avoid feeding the beast. Seems pretty win/win, except for the whole Origin thing.

Origin was the sticking point, but I put the demo in a virtual prophylactic, so to speak, and it worked. Origin didn't even detect my copy of ME2 installed on the same drive.

The demo was another reason I was glad I had canceled. Just a completely half-assed job on BW's part. Crap textures, horrible dialogue, and nothing but combat. People said the MP was good, but I'm only interested in the SP portion.

I think my younger brother is going to get it, so I'll be able to finish the story, that I want, probably with soldier, because I simply do not enjoy the gameplay anymore since ME2, if I wanted to shoot I'd go for Q3Live, no offense bioware.

Cheers :)

I bought it from Origin. Makes me feel like Dethmold's assistant...time for one more.

Anyway, anyone else get this from Origin? Can we pre-download?

Played 3 hrs of it today. One thing is for certain: the writing in TW2 is god tier compared to what I'm experiencing in ME3.

Lookie lookie, first reviews are crawling out and I don't think anything will surprise us in this department:

Oh, and the Witcher 2 got 89/100.

Just as pathetic as we all anticipated. Reviewers act like fanboys or the BioWare marketing department. It's DA2 all over again.

Edit:
Oh dear. I then check out Metacritic to see the difference.

Reviewers [sic]: 93
Users: 1.9

DA 2 all over again, indeed.

Ohoho, the infamously biased PC Gamer... They got plenty of hate last year as well.

Uh-oh, does this mean that Dragon Age 2 is slightly better than ME3? :D

Umm, sorry, I just wanted to point out that PC Gamer might not be the most reliable source.

DA2: "best RPG combat ever", "best storytelling", "darker, sexier, better" - not sure if drugs or serious.

I didn't say it's reliable. I just posted this so we can amuse ourselves over pathetic gaming sites and their even more pathetic reviews. Come on, it's always FUN!

EDIT: It's also so much fun to read user reviews on Metacritic

I especially liked this one, a guy gave the game a 10:

I haven't played this game yet but since no one posting negative reviews has either I figure it's only fair. I think it's fascinating that people think anyone cares about their opinions because they dislike the idea of premium day one DLC or using a digital distribution service that's effectively identical to Steam (which they'd marry, if it were physically possible).
