Kerry Washington to Star in, Produce Hulu Drama 'Old City Blues'

Kerry Washington is expanding her relationship with Hulu.
The Scandal grad, who will next star in and executive produce Hulu's Little Fires Everywhere, has signed on to topline and exec produce Old City Blues for the streamer. The drama, which is in development at Hulu, is based on the Boom! Studios graphic novel. Black List screenwriter Arash Amel is adapting the TV take, with Oscar winner Gore Verbinski (Rango) attached to direct, should the project move forward.
Published in 2011, Old City Blues was written by Giannis Milonogiannis. Set in the year 2048, the story takes place in New Athens, on the ruins that once was known as Greece but is now crawling with high-tech criminals including smugglers, drug dealers and corrupt politicians and powerful corporations. The potential series revolves around Solano, Thermidor and the rest of the New Athens Special Police, who endeavor to keep the city in check after the cyborg founder of a tech company is found dead. (It's unclear just what role Washington will take on as the project remains in development.)
A writers room for the potential series has already been opened with Chris Black (Cinemax's Outcast) set to serve as showrunner and exec produce alongside Amel; Allison Davis (Underground) will pen the script. Washington will exec produce alongside her Simpson Street exec vp development and production Pilar Savone. Verbinski will also exec produce via his Blink Wink Productions. Boom! Studios president of development Stephen Christy and CEO Ross Richie will oversee for the company.
Entertainment One will handle international distribution on the series, which is from Brad Weston's Makeready, as the former serves as the latter's top investor. Makeready's Scott Nemes will oversee for the company and exec produce alongside Weston.
Old City Blues extends Washington's relationship with Hulu, where she next stars opposite Reese Witherspoon in Celeste Ng's Little Fires Everywhere. Both Washington and Witherspoon are exec producing the straight-to-series limited series, which landed at Hulu following a multiple-outlet bidding war. The deal falls outside of Washington's overall pact with ABC Studios, for whom she starred on Scandal.
For Boom! Studios, the deal comes after the company recently hired Averie Huffine as vp development to oversee its expansion in television. Beyond Marvel and DC, Boom! Studios has the largest library of comic book IP.
Washington is repped by CAA, Washington Square Arts and attorney Gretchen Rush. Verbinski, whose credits also include A Cure for Wellness, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and The Lone Ranger, is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and Sloane Offer.

Maybe there's should be a cinema in game where you can and CD projekt Red gets writers from the community to write story that will be played in cinema as movies.
Or being able to record braindance sessions and share it online with the other players (via a braindance fixer or something)
I was thinking Braindance vids would be a good way to make money in 2077 but hadn't though of sharing between players that would be pretty cool.
Even though they are kinda old I just started watching the Ghost in the Shell prequel Arise movies and hadn't watched anything Ghost in the Shell in awhile. So far the first one was pretty good and it reminded me how cyberpunky Ghost was.
Don't like Pokemon one bit and the movie seems stupid but think the city has a cyberpunk feel.

There are several vehicles you can see in the demo and trailer that appear to be inspired by Akira at least in part. Haven't seen any direct quotes about it as an inspiration.
That makes sense. Akira had some awesome bike designs that shouldn't be forgotten, but it's possible that it was a sort of "phantom influence" since a lot of the rest of the film was more niche than likely is desirable for the game.

The Tim Miller/David Fincher-produced Love, Death & Robots Anthology on the other hand didn't quite live up to expectations, at least as far as I'm concerned:

3. "The Witness" - Alberto Mielgo (excellent write-up of the director's inspiration for his short film's theme)
"A woman witnesses a murder in a building in front of the hotel where she is staying. A cat-and-mouse game begins when she comes eye to eye with the murderer and he begins pursuing her through the city."
8. "Good Hunting" - Oliver Thomas
"In early 20th century China, a boy becomes friends with a shape-shifting huli jing after his father kills the huli jing's mother. Years later, living in a steampunk Hong-Kong, they find each other again. They are both older and have changed in their own ways, and when the huli jing is forever changed, the man the boy has become works his own magic."
Episode 12, "Fish Night" by Damian Nenow/Platige Image (of Witcher/CP2077 cinematics fame) and others like Episode 7, "Beyond the Aquila Rift", Episode 11, "Helping Hand" or Episode 18, "Secret War" are very much worth a watch too, even if they're thematically not "Cyberpunk" at all.

Definitely the highlight for me as well.
Going to have to check out Renaissance some time, looks promising, and not just aesthetically.
I must say, I watched a fair number of episodes within this series, and WOW did it hype me for cp77.
Not the greatest animated series I've ever watched (that would go to One Punch Man), but a solid satisfaction of hype for those who can't sit still in anticipation for what should be another masterpiece by CDPR // Cyberpunk 2077. Mature themes, but honestly if you're into cp77 I don't see a reason to care.
I do agree with Episodes 1 & 3 being the best for Cyberpunk fans, as they're closest to cyberpunk lore (other episodes can be more sci fi or dystopian, i.e. 4 & 2, respectively).
Anyways, I'm hyped

Surprisingly decent as well, and while it doesn't reinvent the wheel with yet another take on ye olde brain/sensory hacking trope Project 2501/Laughing Man-style it does at least succeed in the distinct (visual) execution of it.
Some shots, in particular the FPP ones with the drawn handgun, could have been taken from CP2077 just as well. The "netrunning" (or in this case "etherrunning") sequences look strikingly similar too.
The few instances of characters having a bit of a "sexy time" in Anon also serve as a solid argument (or precedent even) for going all the way with the First-Person-Perspective, including sex scenes in CP2077. Film or game, ultimately it's the same cinematic enactment/staging using the same tools and techniques in either case.

I always thought Bubblegum Crisis, Crash, and AD Police were solid CP additions. But then again with anime you could include Appleseed (all of them) and Black Magic 66
Nice detail there with the hooker (or 'joy girl') getting tipped an additional 20% and, obviously being extra happy about it. Clive Owen's character must have been really pleased with her performance.
Unfortunately that's also what makes or breaks sex scenes from the player's POV. Since you're all up close and personal and 'in the thick of it' there's also a bigger focus on facial expressions to sell the act. If they are not done right (which still is really hard to achieve, especially with technically limited in-game cutscenes) that's pretty much it for the moment as well as the immersion.
They could just put the focus on the groping, fondling and pounding and away from the respective partner's face to avoid any such potential pitfalls though.

Finished season 3 of Westworld, which just concluded with its eighth and final episode last Sunday.
The weakest out of the 3 seasons so far, but that's just how it is with every series as it goes on. Still a decent watch with this season relocating the plot out of the park into the city (and surroundings) while spinning a linear (as opposed to season 1 and 2's frequent time jumps) and somewhat uninspired yarn with bits and pieces from all the classics like Blade Runner, Terminator, 1984/Brave New World/Brazil, etc.
I give this a recommendation if you're looking for something recent to scratch the Dystopian/Sci-Fi/Cyberpunk itch and shorten the wait until September 17th.
