Meditating is now done in a menu?

I may be mistake here, but I am sure when I played Witcher 2 and you meditated to forward time, you chose the time amount and saw the world speed up.
Now it is just a blank menu screen, is this how it was in Witcher two or am I thinking of another game?

It would of been great to pick the time. then see Gerelt kneel and time speeds up. Thoughts?

I believe this is what we've got, now:

The Witcher 2 had a slightly different screen (can't find a good shot at the moment), but, on PC, you saw the lights and shadows passing with the time of day during meditation.

The one change I would say is objectively bad.

Visually uninteresting, or, at least, unremarkable.

The original vision was to have the clouds pass by Geralt.....I assume "angelic" like....*sigh* wasted opportunity if ever there was one!

Yeah, the original one had fast forward time-lapse view from what I understood. Some people even pointed this out as a positive, I have no clue why they'd change it. Whatever.

In TW2 it was quick enough to not be annoying but still showed you the time pass nicely. Not sure either why they'd drop it, it was a cool touch.

I believe it used to be real time where you could see the clouds in witcher 3, don't know why they removed it if it was already in. Mods will hopefully put it back in for PC players. Heres a preview quote where they talk about it.

"Earlier we’d seen Geralt meditate, and watched as the sky rolled around, and the weather transformed in accelerated time. It’s hardly a surprise when big budget games look incredible, these days, but moments like that nevertheless grasped me by the eyeballs." - Rock Paper Shotgun

I bet it's because the beard was visibly jumping betwen states of growth. Or Geralts face instantly went from intoxicated to not. So they covered it up with UI. A mod will bring it back i'm sure.

I think this is the only change that I really dislike. It was very atmospheric before, now it's not much more than a glorified ''Wait'' option like in TES games. It would be nice to know why such a cool little feature was toned down, would RED's like to chip in on this @Marcin Momot ? :)
