I'm at the Isle of Mist, but seeing how the world state feels empty and that none of our choices really matter is kind of depressing. Hopefully they considering fixing either with adding new content, patching in characters in some places or both.
I been banging that drum for a while now! That HAS to be what happened...they delayed it, and delayed...then they HAD to release in a few months. I can't help but think what we got was polished up ... placeholder! Was gonna say something else but decided to be nice for a changeWhat happened CDPR? Did you run out of time and had to push the release? Because I honestly can't believe this is the intended end for this epic game. A short cinematic and a slideshow.
and when you are finished with ALL the witcher contracts and the few, if any, remaining side quests...the world is totally done, nothing left to do except hunt respawning drownersYep. It's really poor endig for the final game about Gerat's adventures. Some pos-ending captions and nothing. I want some final quests with Ciri. But i've got few captions and empty world without change.
I agree, the real motivation to continue playing this game is the role play, without a visceral interaction there isn't real motivation to continue. Other single rpgs only have a great replayable factor because you can role play.I been banging that drum for a while now! Agreed, I would have been happy with an option to return to a save maybe back to the point where everyone is on the boat in Skellige. Would have been much better than going back to an empty castle.OP's post is exactly why I was against the option of being able to continue the base game after the story had ended.
Many players are thinking the exact same thing...They can't believe what happened.."So...Thats the end?! Really ?!"What happened CDPR? Did you run out of time and had to push the release? Same feelingFor an open world game to end when the main story is finished is just bad and i already said that in this thread before, but in this case maybe its not such a bad idea because they build the game this way. I'm on my second playthrough and i will do every secondary quest and stuff i want to do before finishing the main story even if sometimes it feels wrong because you are always in a hurry to find Ciri, she's in danger, but you are doing some quests and treasure hunting and you completely forgot about her and about your important mission for some time. It's another thread with the title 2 games in 1 and that's exactly how it feels, TW3 is more or less an linear story put in an open world environment, even so TW3 is not a bad game, in fact it's a great one, but ofc we expected a little more, at least to see the choices that we made to be reflected just maybe a little in the world, and i am not talking only about the post-ending stuff, for example after we kill Radovid, on the streets people are saying "long live Radovid", it's a little immersion breaking in my opinion. Of course they will say about the post-ending gameplay that it was not possible because the game have 30+ endings, well in the first place i do not understand why they did so many, i am happy with 3 well made endings but with an post-ending gameplay. Other games did that, they have also choices, ofc not so dam many, but they manage to reflect the player choices in that world and that's the key to make the players happy in my opinion.
Honestly, if it was going to be like this, they SHOULD have just returned you to the OPTIONS screen! I really thought one of the big draws to this game was the OPEN WORLD...and I again, naively so, thought that meant after the game had completed you would have an open world, that YOU created by the choices you made during the story, to explore and continue the adventures!OP's post is exactly why I was against the option of being able to continue the base game after the story had ended.
Ditto! But I am beginning to be less and less forgiving of their post end game choices. How far into development did they get before they said, 'wait, there is gonna be like 30+ different end game states...we can't possible do all of them?' To which SOMEONE in the room had to reply, 'ahhh F'it! Well just not give them the option!'For an open world game to end when the main story is finished is just bad and i already said that in this thread before, but in this case maybe its not such a bad idea because they build the game this way. I agree. Its good that this topic is still alive, I think that CDPR already noticed that, and I hope they gonna do something with it.
Honestly, the impression I was left with is that CDPR are more focused on ironing out technical issues with the game...which, in an open world game, will always crop up no matter how many patches you push out...so I think that some of the story/epilogue related aspects raised in this or other threads will take the backseat for some time before they even get considered..I agree.
They always improved their games after release, so there's no reason to think they don't read the forums and won't do anything about the flaws we are talking about.
