I did some Judo a couple of years ago. But there is not kicking or punching involved. ;)

Don't know anything about firearms though either.

Hm, I went fishing a couple of times. I imagine it being more relaxing, though maybe not as exiting. Do you have anough wildlife in Ireland to shoot animals, if it is such a common hobby? Though if this is a shotgun as I understood, you can't eat it afterwards because of all the fragments, or not?

Never shot in the woods sadly, only in a sportshall or on the field. And it was just target practice. Liked cloud shooting most. Seeing my arrow fly high up in the air and landing several hundret meters away close to the target. (Used to imagine it being like in the movies, when the archers darken the sky with arrows. ^^)

Most of the things we shoot at are birds: Crows, Magpies, and Wood Pigeons. I haven't seen a deer except in captivity.

Been in a few fights and got mugged in Philly when I was going to art school. First fight I lost, I retired from my fighting 'career'. I want to keep all my teeth. I do love MMA and boxing. Follow both avidly.

Hm, luckily I never was in a real fight. Scared off once two bullies from a friend of mine and once fought off a huge guy with a friend of mine, which tried to steal my phone with a small knife. But noone got really hurt. (The guy didn't expect any resistenace and ran off quite quickly.)

Not into fighting sports really, but I don't really watch sports at all. The only kind of fighting sports I could get into would be the ones that are mostly about elegance and outsmarting your opponent. Don't like to watch punching/kicking.

I've found that getting in a fight with someone is great for bonding.

I haven't been in a fight since Highschool, but yea I do :) I used to get in a lot of them as a kid growing up. I'm biracial. Mother's black, dad's black and white, but looks white. Now that I'm older, I think people can tell at least that I'm part black, but I still have people wondering if I'm white, or part hispanic or arab. I'm basically too black to be white, and too white to be black, so I always started out as an outsider with new groups, and you know how kids are when they see someone different. It was good for me though. Back when there was no bully campaigns to soften all the kids to little marshmellows.

I actually don't like fighting in a sportive way. I prefer traditional martial arts... the path to master them is way longer, yes, but lots of gratifications along the way. And besides... hey, traditional martial arts involve sword fighting too, ain't that cool? ;)

@Unkindled yeah I understand you... I used to be bullied too, cause I was little and skinny, and I was good at school, you know... they used to call me nerd and stuff like that, it's a common problem. I never got in a fight back then, but I was afraid. I chose to practice martial arts to fight that fear, first of all. Luckily, I managed.

Agreed. I've befriended several people I got in bad fights with. You respect them afterwards.

Aye' I got jumped by mistake years ago in school. Apparently the back of my head was identical t the target.

Couple o' years later found the dude outside a cinema, me and my buddy left our dates and drug him round the corner and no rules were had.

I don't go looking for fights, but if I were pressed into one I'll use whatever, teeth are brittle enough as it is.

I am always surprised, that this is still such an issue in many places. True we don't have many people with black skin over here, but have never experienced it making a difference. Guess I always lived in very open surroundings, be it race, nationality, religion or other things.

That's awesome, man :) Good shit, good shit. Bet they can't bully you now ;)
I gotta do something like that for my little brother. He's raised up in this new culture where they tell you to go tattle to the teacher, even if you're actively getting your ass beat.... He got pushed around by a kid two years younger than him once because he was too afraid to get in trouble.

Well, it probably wouldn't be as surprising if I told you I lived in South Carolina  I didn't have as many problems over race in Kentucky, Ohio, none at all in Germany (I'm an army brat, and mom was stationed there in Wurzburg, where I was born). Only had issues with race here. And from both black and white kids too.

There are too few people, who will stand up against bullies and stand with the bullied. Hope it works out for your brother.

Yeah, that's a common issue too... just tell him that defending himself is legit, and he won't get into trouble for self-defense.

In north Philly the locals can go from white collar to stab-you-in-the-back in just a few blocks. The post office was located in a bad area. When we'd get care packages from home, my roomies and I would go as a group to discourage confrontations. One time I decided to go it alone because no one was at hand. On my way home, some friendly fellows surrounded me and asked for my package. I said no and got punched in the face by two guys at once. I had to run for five fucking blocks before the bastards left me alone. Weird thing is, I thought once I got into traffic and populated streets, they'd back off. That wasn't the case. They only stopped when a street cop shouted at them. I learned my urban parkour skillz the hard way :p

I gave him that speech and he says he gets it. But sometimes I think he just used that as an excuse to hide that he was just scared. I stepped up our rough horseplay after that to toughen him up some. It worked, because I was really messing with him once, and out of nowhere he hit me right in the balls. His hand was like the perfect size to crack me one. I was so pissed off... but I asked for it. I got him back though. I didn't hit him in the balls or anything, lol, but I got him back, then told him he did good, and if he gets in a fight, that's exactly what he should do. I don't fight fair either. I go for the temple, eyes, balls, pinch the muscle near the armpit, whatever I can when punching isn't enough.

Damn, although I'd expect that from any city. I like the idea of living in the city, but I'll stick to the suburbs.

The important question though, did you keep your package?

I kept the one that matters. :p

Had to call my mom and tell her some thugs were enjoying her dark German chocolates. Philly is actually a great city. I go back there about once a year.
