Sure, most people wouldn't have, that's why CDPR told nobody... or rather, they didn't do nearly as laudly as they told the public all the good stuff that may (or may not) be in the final game.

in my opinion digital art needs to be legislated with definitions and standards. CDPR framed themselves as the last major game dev company that self-regulated and was ethical.
standards for the label RPG or Choices Matter need to be legally binding and based off of the classics that gave these definitions meaning.
EU and America do this all the time in different industries, especially with food products. You cannot sell American cheese and label it Cheddar. You shouldn't be able to do the same with digital media.
Consumers are at the mercy of corporations, they can and do literally what would be considered false advertising in any other industry.
I am ready to put up with many things.
Are you removing wall running because it doesn't fit into the level design? OK! No problem.
Will there be no subway? I'm not against. Apparently fast travel terminals turned out to be simpler and more convenient.
Are you making the storyline of the game for only 20 hours? I'll just accept it! Because I trust you.
But when it turns out that there is more non-linearity in Cal of Duty Cold War than in Cyberpunk, I just can't figure it out! It seemed to me that you were making a plot for 20 hours, but in return it would be non-linear and variable. This is the worst, most terrible disappointment that this game could bring. I didn't care about everything, let it be bad physics, let it be bad AI, let it be stupid pedestrians, I could endure everything. BUT it turned out that this game lacks the most important thing - variability.
Not sure if this belongs here. But there are certain places where the highway is blocked by some sort of cement block. Jump over them move a while call your car and you got a highway that is completely empty that is on higher ground and brings you from one place to another faster if you don't want to fast travel. Also a sightseeing experience. Especially since i found something that looks like a train system or something like that? Is that cut content as well ?
And why did you lie about Jackie? Just why? Why did you do this? Do you understand how many hours I spent replaying the prologue? I went through all the options in the dialogues. I searched the entire hotel, rebooted the game over and over. I had all the options selected in the dialogs.
1.Go to the bar
2. go with Jackie
3.No answer the hotel staff
4. Answer all available answer choices
5 call Jacke on the phone many times before a mission
6. Examine every centimeter of Brayndans before the mission to find at least some clue.
Tried to hide from Adam Smasher. Tried to activate the laptop in Saburo Arasaki's helicopter. Tried to find some way to save Jackie. Until the last moment I thought that there was some secret, there was some way.
Just explain to me WHY? What's going on in this video? Is this some kind of joke or something? Why did you do this?

I still can't believe that everything is so dumb. So dumb and simple. That this game is SO linear. I still believe that the laptop in Saburo Arasaki's helicopter can give an alternate ending. Maybe this is a bug and can be activated? Should I use the token from Saburo's neck? Maybe there is a way to somehow turn on the turret on the ceiling in the hotel room? It literally drives me crazy.
And what about the hidden sixth characteristic? Is this just a placeholder for DLS? It would be so frustrating and so dumb.
Perhaps because of stress, I just start to go crazy and look for something that simply does not exist. Like a crazy conspiracy theorist.
What's odd it feels like some of the missing content was already there at some point, as evident by trailers (unless these were fabricated to look like gameplay), but was in a way "Ctrl + X'd' out of the game before release.
Pretty much that. They are not the first ones to do so. Though you would normally expect that kind of behavior from your typical suspects (EA, Ubi, Blizzard).
Pre-rendering a scene to build a neat little "Showcase" is common practice. To completely oversell the final product like they did though is more like W3 - Reforged (first example from the top of my head).
What this whole fiasco really needs and really needs badly is the one thing I think we will never get which is an explanation. A full break down of what happened to this feature and that feature. Why is this removed and that a shadow of what was promised. A proper Q&A with honest answers. The closest to that we got was the investors call and the one time someone asked about Expectations vs Reality, the question wasn't answered.
Sadly I think all we can do at this point is vent our frustrations and hopefully they'll listen enough to put some of it back in over the course of several months. I doubt we'll even get a roadmap but that'd at least be a start.
Pretty sure you would not like the answers. As CDPR showed, they are pretty good at selling you something. I should assume the answers would be somewhere in the realm of:
- Yes. We actually did plan this particular feature, but we cut it so that people with certain disabilities (motion sickness f.e. or slow reflexes due to mechanical disabilities) could also enjoy every part of the game and would not have to sacrifice parts of their personal experience
Maybe a bad example, but I think you get where I am going.
Every answer they could give us would not be enough. Simply because we would never know how much of it is true and how much of it is just corpo bs, since honesty seems more like a foreign concept to the higher ups.
Now put yourself into the shoes of the devs. Given they are passionate about creating games, don't you think if they can fullfil these promises they would? Or do you think they would just cut these content to agitate us?
You don't know what went into the development in these 9 years. If you know anything about SW development then it is not all about just content creation. It's easy for us outsiders to look at it just as content being cut without thinking effort went behind it instead.
Where were those developers though? They knew the release date. They knew the state of the game. Where was their opposition to a release?
AFTER, they confronted the higher ups. AFTER it was confirmed that bonuses are paid regardless of rating.
Don't get me wrong. I do not blame the devs entirely. If only half the rumors of what went on behind CDPR's doors are true, it was a massive shitshow. Nonetheless are those the same devs that kept quit about every part of the state of the game. Or do you really think they would not read the statements made by their bosses / the media team? Do you think they would not watch interviews and stuff like that?
They had a chance to speak up and did not. NOT ONE OF THEM !!
I dont expect this much content to be delivered for free but an expension with some add-ons would be very nice
I understand some of those cut are for gamedesign reason thought, to make it more fun and simple
Imo this would be the exact opposite of what they HAVE TO do (not should).
Your reasoning enables that kind of behavior in the first place. "Oh you did not deliver all the content? Well. Let me pay you some more money for the rest of it."
NO. To expect them to deliver every single item on those lists for free is not economical. BUT to deliver at least 60% on those lists? It is necessary to even remotely restore some of the trust (still, just my opinion).
What you are suggesting is (still only mo) to actually reward them for delivering a half-assed mess.

christ
this type of thinking is why the market is in such bad shape for consumers
stop giving these major tech corps money, you are just ensuring that a company that could compete with them won't ever be able to get off the ground because you keep funding the bad ones despite their quality and practices.
Hell, Witcher 1 and Witcher 2 and they enhanced editions are prime examples of just HOW much they can change and improve a game and add new features to them in less than a year, complete improvements, new textures even, new NPCs, quests and features. Witcher 3 and it's free patches and paid DLCs, same thing, a year and a ton of changes, improvements, new features, new areas, a lot more dialogs, game changing additions... CDProjektRED did all of the above. It's no different with what Cyberpunk 2077 NEEDS, and that's the key difference: none of those games needed any huge improvement or new content and features to really be any good, none, yet they received, a lot. Now 2077 actually needs those "extras" to be any good of a game which means they should work way way harder than they did in the above titles.
Humanity is an interesting mechanic from the Tabletop which is about balancing cyberware, too much of it will cause your humanity to drop to 0 and cyberpyschosis sets in. Now there are certain cyberware that doesn't hurt humanity, a lot of fashionware or medical stuff, but make yourself a full borg like Adam Smasher, yea you are going to tank humanity.

I will admit I've had a lot of fun playing on PC and initially, I was tolerating the bugs to a humorous extent that they reminded me of my days playing TES Oblivion. I wouldn't say I'm ridiculously far but have played quite a bit. I'm hesitant to play anymore though. Such wonderful potential, amazing hype nearly a decade long, Empty promises, and such wasted opportunities. I feel silly writing this as it basically echos the millions out there writing the same posts on here, Reddit, Steam, GoG, etc literally right now. I won't pretend I don't like the game because I really do, but this sort of practice is what ruins game companies. I never expected all my wildest dreams to be included in the game, but the amount scrapped compared to the "finished" buggy state, especially after being delayed more than once, is such a shame for everyone involved. My gut is telling me that customization features will be later released as a component to the multiplayer as paid cosmetics. I really hope this is not the case.

Wow I had not seen that video. Apparently Miles didn't know at some point that Jackie dies...I've said it before and I'll say it again poor project management. There was clearly a significant lack of communication.
